This pad is Awesome! I have a NEMO Tensor Extreme and its warm but its fragile and narrow for what most manufactures call WIDE. I was looking for something warm and wide and found the Big Agnus Campmeister Deluxe. No its not as light as the NEMO but at 78x30 inches and thicker material, this pad is a beast! I'm 6'5" and 280lbs, and this pad held up cowboy camping on top of a 14er here is Colorado. I forgot to pack my tent and figured if its gonna pop, its gonna pop and I will just head back down. I slept in till the sun came up and don't think ill ever go back to NEMO. Thank you Big Agnus for looking out for the big guys!
My wife and I run a YouTube channel (Alaskan Nomads) where we camp in remote places in Alaska throughout the year (all seasons). We both use these pads for all of our Alaskan winter camping adventures, and have used them in temperatures as low as low as -11F. We put a foam folding pad below it and between the two, we stay very warm and comfortable. We went with the long/wide version, and would not hesitate to buy this exact pad again. It's perfect for extreme cold conditions.
I'm a big guy (6'2", around 250, with broad shoulders) and this pad is an absolute game changer. 30" wide is so much wider than 24" wide or heaven forbid 20" wide like some of these sleeping pads. There's an unconscious part of your brain that has to stay on alert when you're a big dude on a narrow pad, and it keeps you from being able to fully relax. When you're on a pad wide enough for your arms to lay at your sides without being on the ground, you can actually just rest, and your brain isn't half-awake all night trying to keep you perched on the knife's edge. The pad is also designed with a bolster around the edge to help keep you from rolling off, and the surface material resists your bag slipping and sliding around, so even when I've had this on a less-than-perfectly-flat surface, I've felt perfectly secure. The insulation is great, there's no noise from it while moving around unlike some pads that sound like a bag of chips every time you touch them. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Absolutely the best pad I've ever owned.
Really like the pad. Especially like how the material is not too slippery, so you don't slide off and like how there is NOT a built-in pillow. I find built-in pillows cause you to slide down towards your feet and off the pad and don't actually work as a pillow! Good move keeping it flat! My only criticism is the relatively small inflation bag. Because this is not intended as an ultralight pad, why not include an inflation bag twice the volume?!? It would decrease fill time by 1/2 at very little increase in weight / bulk!
I'm a side sleeper, and this pad has been very comfortable. My arm no longer falls asleep, and I'm getting noticeably better-quality rest with less tossing and turning. The pad has kept me warm down to 30F while wearing a light base layer and using a 10F (limit) Zenbivy Light Quilt. I haven't tested it in lower temperatures yet. I appreciate the two separate valves for inflation and deflationthey're easy to tell apart in the dark when adjusting firmness. I don't use the included inflation sack instead, I use a Flextail Max pump, which inflates the 25x78 pad in under 45 seconds, followed by 23 puffs of air for fine-tuning. All of this comes at the cost of a bit more weight and packed size, but I'm not an ultralight backpacker and find that trade-off well worth it for the comfort. My only suggestion would be for Big Agnes to include a small Velcro strap to secure the pad after rolling it up.
I don't know it's possible for what is essentially two pounds of material to make such a comfortable sleeping pad. I thought I was crazy to spend this much for a pad, but I am completely stoked on it. 100% worth it and I recommend it to anyone. It's awesome.
I used this with the Echo Park 20, and I was quite comfortable! I'm such a comfort seeker that I wouldn't mind if this was thicker, but it is a great pad. It inflates easily, deflates super easily, and packs up easily. Roll, sack, and go.
The most comfortable pad that I have tried that is still packable. Totally worth the extra 10 oz or so over other ultralight pads. I have back issues and it allows me to get a good nights sleep while camping. It's also very warm.
The pad is very comfortable and appears durable. I have one gripe, the repair patches are loose in the sack and they will get lost. Is it too much to ask for a pocket in the sack?
I should have sized up. After using for 2 nights, I realized i would be more comfortable on the larger size. It is comfortable and the larger bag for inflation works well.
