Perfectly designed!

I love this pack! I've had it for almost two years now - I took it on a one day Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim, on day hikes in Bryce, and on day hikes, XC ski tours, and snowshoe trips locally in WA. It's impressively functional - all the features you want and nothing unnecessary. I had debated getting this one or the slightly larger 22L since they are virtually identical with the exception of the bungee lashing on the front of the 22L and a little more space. Now that I've used this for a while, I'm going to add the larger pack as well, for slightly larger trips. It's really comfortable to wear, I love the orange color, the hidden snack pocket, and the slim profile.

Decent but not super comfortable daypack

Decent backpack for short day hiking. Shoulder straps leave little padding for comfort for more than a 3 mile hike. Waist straps are very slim and not very comfortable. Not a bad pack pack for carrying lightweight items. I took this on the Ramona Falls trail hike and it was very heavy and uncomfortable with the water bladder filled with 3 liters of water and a few snack items. I used this pack again for a longer hike and less water in bladder and still lacks comfort. Will take with me for traveling in Europe in a few weeks just for city travel and not carrying around water and snacks.

Fabulous Pack!

I couldn’t be more pleased with my Gregory Nano 18 H2O Pack. I’ve used it on several hikes in the Mississippi River Gorge near my home. The days were hot — 90s and humid — and the 3L reservoir kept me well hydrated. It fits nicely in its own pocket and has a sturdy handle that makes it easy to fill with well marked indicators of 1, 2 and 3 liters. The foam back panel keeps my back well ventilated. I’m able to pack everything I need so easily. I especially like the convenient zippered side pocket stash pocket. I’m planning on bringing it on my upcoming two week biking trip in Italy because it’s so comfortable and holds everything I’ll need both biking and traveling. 18 is an excellent size. This will definitely be my go to pack for day hikes and bike rides.

A hydration pack to take serious.

I never thought I would like using a bladder and after using this pack, I still don't. Nothing against the pack, I just like bottles, but you prefer bladders, you'll like this product. The pack itself is very nice with many features I liked very much. One of my favorite features is the 4 loops on the front, where I wove shock cord thru to attach items to the outside of the pack. Although, it's a hydration pack, it also has one side water bottle pocket. On the other side, there's a vertical zippered pocket. The bladder itself is of excellent quality and very easy to use. I liked the fact is that the bladder is stored in it's own zippered pocket. This is a top-loading pack, which I prefer. The interior of the pack has plenty of room to store a rain/wind jacket, first aid kit, emergancy kit and lunch. The shoulder straps and hip belt are light wieght, but even with the 13+ pounds I was carrying, even on one 12 mile hike with 4,000 feet of elevation gain, I hardly knew I had a pack on. If you're looking for a hydration pack for dayhikes, even long ones, I would take a serious look at this pack.

Comfortable, good storage, nice and simple feature

I recently took the Gregory Nano 18 pack on a weekend trip hiking, kayaking, and walking around town. It was really comfortable to wear and the padded back vented nicely when the temperatures started to rise. Straps are all easy to adjust. It looks great, too! A few of the features that I really liked: -For 18 liters, I felt like I was able to carry quite a few things, including extra clothes, a towel, food for lunch, extra water, 2 bottles of sunscreen, keys, wallet, phone, and a few other odds and ends with room to spare. Because of the padding on the back, despite having some budges with my gear, I never once felt them against my back. -The zippered pocket at the top and the side made it easy to access smaller items such as sunscreen, phone, wallet, keys without having to open it up fully to the main compartment. -The drawstring once you open up the main compartment as a two-pull system, meaning that you can pull one string easily to open and pull another to easily close. This was great when I was kayaking and only had only hand to get into the pack and close it up. -The hydration bladder has a nice inside clip to keep it steady in place so that it never bunches to one side or the other. I also liked the magnet that kept the mouth piece firmly across the chest-strap so that it wasn't just dangling by my side. 3 liters for water is also a bonus and it wasn't too bulky. -I didn't use them for this trip, but in the future, I'll likely use the extra loops across the back to secure my sunglass case with a carabiner and other small items like a mosquito net, things you want to access quickly. There were two minor flaws that would make this pack better but not enough for me to ding a star in my rating: -In order to access the hydration bladder, you have to first open up the top lid, then access the zippered compartment. I wish you could just avoid opening the top lid and instead access this space from the back of the backpack. Why the extra step? -I had a water bottle in the mesh pocket on the side, but when wearing the pack, it was hard to actually grab without removing the pack from a shoulder to sling it to my side. In addition, my bottle fell out when I placed the pack on the ground and it fell to the side, so I wish it was slightly deeper. All in all, I am very happy with this pack and would recommend. It feels very durable and should last a while.

So much space and a chance to make new friends

My first time on the trail with this hydration pack was a 1300-foot climb up Cascade Head. My partner and I headed to the Coast to escape the extreme heat in Portland that weekend, and instead of tossing water bottles in the back of our daypacks (we usually each carry two), we took turns trading off with one of us carrying a daypack and the other using the Gregory Nano 18 H2O Hydration Pack. The magnetic clip on the chest strap was a huge convenience in my perspective, but my partner prefers the security of a click-in-place plastic clip. The lower strap was easy to adjust for both of us (34-inch waste for me and 29-inch waste for my partner) and a good fit. I did have a little bit of trouble adjusting the shoulder straps while wearing the pack, but my partner reminded me that this is a difficulty I have with almost every single pack I own. The extra space in the main compartment offered room for a 600 mm prime lens and a spare 16.9 ounce water bottle as well as a few trail necessities. For my purposes, the pack was actually a little bit larger than I need. For instance, I fit everything I wanted to bring into the main compartment and didn't have a use for the side pocket or the zip-up top compartment. This works for me, though, as I prefer to carry weight low (just above my hips) when hiking. (I ended up tossing extra snacks into the zip-up top compartment since I had the extra space, and two miles in, we met up with a family visiting from California who hadn't thought to bring any food or water. This pack made us some new friends as we shared a snack and water while taking in incredible views of the ocean!)

Good Lightweight Hydration Pack

The Gregory Nano 18 H20 is a lightweight and versatile backpack that truly delivers in terms of performance and functionality. I recently added this backpack to my gear collection and have been pleased with its performance. The Nano 18 H20 is also lightweight and comfortable to carry. The adjustable shoulder straps provide a secure fit, reducing strain on my shoulders and back during long hikes even if the sternum strap is a bit lacking. Additionally, the breathable mesh back panel allows for good airflow, minimizing sweating and discomfort. I like its ample storage space. Despite its compact size, the Nano 18 H20 boasts multiple pockets and compartments that keep my belongings organized and easily accessible. The main compartment is spacious enough to hold all of my essentials, including a down jacket, fleece, and a rain shell. The side zippered pocket works well for storing smaller items like keys, cell phones, and wallets, while the stretch side pocket is good for holding a water bottle which seems a bit redundant which leads us to the Nano 18 H2O standout feature, it's hydration compatibility. The dedicated sleeve and port make it easy to fit the included hydration bladder, allowing for convenient water access on the go. This feature is especially convenient during long hikes or intense activities, ensuring that I stay hydrated without having to pause or remove my backpack. Also if you remove the bladder, that pocket can fit an iPad or 13" Macbook Pro. In terms of style, the Nano 18 H20 has a sleek and minimalist design that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional.  Overall, the Gregory Nano 18 H20 is a reliable and well-designed backpack that meets expectations. Its durability, comfort, ample storage space, and hydration compatibility make it a useful companion for outdoor adventures.

In love with this pack

Love this pack. It is the perfect size for a small framed woman like myself who wants to bring layers, snacks, dog essentials, plenty of water, etc. along. Really shines on longer hikes when you appreciate the comfortable back panel, straps, hip belt and sternum strap. The little hidden pocket on the right side is perfect for quickly grabbing your phone to snap photos or other items you’d like to access without removing your pack. In love!!

Perfect pack for a day hike

This pack is great for day hikes and 14ers. I found it to be the perfect size for 10 essentials, an extra layer of clothing, food for a day, and the included 3L bladder. Pros: It looks great. I like the Half Dome color scheme. The quick connect for the bladder hose, the bladder's compartment, and the hook/latch to hang the bladder on are probably the best/easiest setup I've worked with. It's very easy to swap out the bladder or quickly take it out to refill it. The main compartment is easy to quickly open and close. I like the asymmetric side pockets: one bottle pouch and one zippered pouch. The top zippered pouch is the right size for keys/wallet/phone and quick essentials like a snack, chapstick, or sunscreen. Well ventilated on the back, didn't feel overheated after several hours straight wearing this. Lightweight and comfortable for a day hike. Cons: For any hiking longer than a day, you'd have to be very efficient with your packing. It's not a large pack. I wouldn't want to carry a heavy load with this pack, as the shoulder straps are relatively thin, despite the foam padding. This could become uncomfortable during long or multi-day hikes. Summary: Pretty much the perfect pack for any day hike.

Decent Pack for Day Trips

I was really looking forward to testing out this daypack with an included bladder bag on a weekend trip of hiking. I am going next weekend. Unfortunately, I ran out of time to review. I can give you a review for my hikes/walks in a local nearby park. I am a female about 5’ 2” with a short torso, long legs. I find that this pack is a touch too long for me (this is a unisex pack). If I use the waist belt, the straps are a bit above my shoulders. The waist belt really isn't much of anything, just a strap. I would prefer an actual padded shaped waist belt. The water bladder worked fine. My regular daypack fits a bladder bag in a separate zippered compartment just like the Gregory Nano but it does not have the hanging hook to keep the bladder in place. This is a plus for stopping the bladder from shifting around. This pack has a side mesh pocket for one bottle, which may be handy if you want to carry a separate bottle of a Gatorade type drink. You can save the bladder for your water. There is a small zip pocket at the top of the pack for your phone and wallet. This pocket is not cushioned in any way. The main compartment is roomy for your lunch and raincoat, or for another layer of clothing. What I did not like was that there are not any options for stowing small objects other than the one small zip compartment at the top of the pack. There are no additional small zip pockets on the outside of the pack and it does not have any mesh or strapping or bungie webbing for the attachment points on the outside of the pack. I find that it is nice to hang a wet raincoat on the outside of the pack when you are done with it. I am not stuffing a wet raincoat inside of the pack. The other shortcoming is that since this is a unisex pack, and I am a small, short person, the excess straps hang down all over (see picture from behind). I may take the pack to a tailor shop to shorten them once I know how long I really want them.

Excellent no-frills hydration daypack

I have a lot of packs, perhaps too many, but this particular pack filled a case that none of my others did: a flexible daypack with a hydration bladder that wasn't too big or too small, but just right for a day or night. I'll try to break down what I liked most about this particular pack. Storage: I think 18-22L is a perfect size for a day pack, and this pack lets you use every bit of the available space quite easily since it's mostly all just one large pocket with a cinch cord. There is a pocket for the hydration bladder that keeps it out of the way and protected from the rest of the pack contents and a couple of easy-access sidepockets that are just big enough for a few snacks. I really appreciated the simplicity of this pack. Especially at this size, I'm not usually packing so much that I need a ton of organization; imho it's easier to spend a few seconds digging around a main pocket than it is to meticulously organize a small load. I also loved the multiple nylon loops on the outside, perfect for attaching a mug or packed rain shell with a carabiner. Hydration: This bladder was the easiest to fill of any I've used. The handle felt super sturdy and easy to hold even when the bladder was full, and it had just enough structure to easily slip into its designated pocket. The flow from the hose and bite valve was a tiny bit more restrictive than I'm used to, but if you're not gulping down water at full speed it wasn't noticeable. Comfort: One of the appealing things about this pack is the "just right" size, but the compromise is that it doesn't have as much structure (both in the pack and waist strap) as larger packs that are suited for heavy loads. I found that when I loaded this up with a very dense set of items I didn't feel like there was quite enough support to be comfortable for a long day. That said, I don't think that's a typical or reasonable use for this pack (I was really stress testing it there). When I had a more reasonable amount of weight in there, it felt fine. The foam/mesh back also felt like it afforded plenty of ventilation. All in all I felt like this pack had just the right size and features to make it versatile and functional. It has a great balance of simplicity and technicality and I can definitely see it becoming one of my favorite packs for hikes, walks, and bike rides around town.
