I like it!
First test a few days ago. Put a few cold drinks in it along with food for a day along with a half a bag of ice. Love the tray! Still had some ice it after about 36 hours. First impression is that it’s way better than a nice soft cooler I have and also better than a similar sized big name roto molded cooler I have. I don’t know if this one is grizzly proof but so far I’ve not encountered any grizzlies in South Texas 😅
Good everyday cooler
Have had the 25 now for a couple weeks and it has been my go to. Love the light weight and convenient size for road trip snack and drinks in the truck. The ice retention was better than expected and the rugged ice pack makes it even better. Excited to take this on my kayak and float trips in the summer as well.
Awesome
First time using cooler on a road trip....I've never had a cooler keep our drinks this cold for an entire trip....that alone is just awesome. Super lightweight. My wife said the ice shots we had in the cooler where still very frozen 9hrs after we left. Impressive!
Flawed design, but keeps things cold
I picked this cooler as a petite middle aged New Yorker who is tired of hauling heavy things around unnecessarily, also tired of having to go get more ice every day for cheap coolers on trips. If your primary concern is a lightweight cooler that truly keeps the cold for days, and you are not concerned with capacity or efficient use of space, you will like this cooler. It kept our drinks very cold for several days on multiple camping trips, and it does in fact float, making it easy to keep near in the water. The cupholders in the lid are also helpful! However, my partner and I are meh on it overall, as it suffers from a couple of strange and obvious design flaws. First, it is not possible to fit the advertised number of cans AND use the rugged road reusable ice block (available on their website). It’s also not possible to fit cans upright while using the ice block and the included basket; it’s too shallow. So, the basket is pretty much useless, unless you are packing drinks/snacks for 1-2 people on a short day trip….but then a more affordable cooler that doesn’t need to stay as cold would fit the bill? Making the cooler like 3/4” deeper would solve this problem, perhaps they can figure that out for future iterations, or not including the basket as a feature in the first place. Finally, it’s an awkward shape for carrying, wide and boxy, for a slimmer, shorter person. If you need to carry further than a short transfer from car trunk to campsite picnic table, you will want the shoulder strap, purchased separately. But the shoulder strap clips are poorly designed, with only one correct way to use them without it unclipping itself every time you pick it up. Weird! There is a lot of potential here as the cooling technology and materials seem great and durable, but overall I wouldn’t recommend this current version.
Use it Everyday
This cooler has instantly become my day to day cooler. Super light and perfect size for the passenger seat. It kept ice for 36 hours so I’m really impressed!!! Also great that they are protected by a lifetime warranty so I know I’m making a worthwhile investment.
Love it
Exactly what I want in a cooler. Great product. Made the switch from Yeti to RR
Would Recommend
My husband and I have already highly recommended Rugged Road to our friends due to the quality of the coolers. The 25 is our second cooler, we also have the 65 that we purchased last year before our trip to Moab Utah. That cooler did amazing in the Moab heat! Now we will be recommending Rugged Road based on quality and customer service both!
Perfect Size and Weight
I wanted a quality cooler that would keep food cool for the few days it takes me to drive from Santa Fe, New Mexico to San Rafael, California. I take my time because I drive with my 13-year-old Aussie, and he needs walks and meals along the way. The Rugged Road 25 V2 Cooler is the perfect cooler for us.
