[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tent has been in some of the worst weather in the USA! I have camped in this tent during a few of my cross country trips in nearly every state in the USA. It will not leak! I have tested this tent in extremely cold conditions and I have slept dry in heavy storms where this tent was an inch deep in water! I accidentally set this tent in a slope in Great Sand Dunes National Park during a night of heavy rain and it survived being buried in water, I was so surprised that it did not leak! I also have the Mountain 25 and that tent is just as good as this one! The one problem with this tent: The weight. This isn't a backpacking tent. This will either be set up for a few days in an expedition trip or car camping.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought 9 tents of V-25 3-person sizes for my business, I have a tour company that organizes multi-day treks in hard terrains and high elevations. Initially, I had good references for these tents but then my purchase became very regrettable. After 6 months of use the plastic window that is part of the outer vestibule came out, the glue material that was supposed to stick vanished from the 9 tents. I tried to fix them up using a special glue material that came with other Black Diamond tents, but this procedure is a pain in the neck, I'm very disappointed with these tents, I paid very expensive cost expecting that they would be the right gear for my company but unfortunately is not good for money value. My local dealer offers a guarantee only for 3 months after the purchase and after 6 months there is no way to use this guarantee, in other words, I threw away my money. These tents may be for casual use, perhaps once or 3 times camping a year, they can resist/work but for a work of once or twice a month they are not recommendable. Honestly very disappointed.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've spent hundreds of nights in these tents, and they're absolutely bomber. If the weather might be bad, this is the tent you want. There is a reason they're used worldwide on the highest peaks. For what you get the value is incredible. Sure, it's bulky and heavy if the weather is good, but when things turn bad the weight is well worth it. Works great for 2 people on long expeditions, 3 on shorter trips. Details are all thought out, from doors that stow in their own pouch, ample interior pockets that dry stuff out in the sun, vents that can be opened/closed from inside the tent, hexagon shape that allows for gear storage on either side. If you need a true expedition tent this is a no-brainer.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We camp. Recently I camped at Big Sur campground in California. That night was forecasted to receive heavy rains in excess of 1"/hr. The storm did not disappoint. I selected a spot in the camp on a slight angle so water would drain from under the tent. It rained so much that the entire campground was flooded in under 2" of water. The VE-25 kept us dry. Dry like a California drought. Would def. recommend this tent to you. The ventilation system kept the insides condensation free. The multiple doors is a nice touch. Lots of vestibule space. Always keep the tent pointed into the wind.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought my VE-25 in 2004 for a Denali trip. TNF warranties this for life. I've had to replace one pole due to heavy snows in CA where we got too lazy to continue clearing the tent from snowfall every hour and woke up with a partial collapse. My original fly's seams delaminated and TNF replaced it with the newest version which is still compatible. My window just popped out on it like the guide in Peru noted. But TNF just fixed it and It's ready to take back out.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought second VE-25 since 2002 today. First one was in the wilderness over 1000 days in 21 years. Temps from 9°-121°f. 60 mph winds at 12,500 ft. Resisted hail, rain, sandstorm and snow. Been on 136 backpack and over 100 car trips. NF repaired and honored the lifetime warranty to replace the tent. I own 13 tents. 3 of them are NF tents. Harrier, Himalaya and VE-25.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I own an old version of this tent. When I lost the tent, I still had the rain fly and poles, which can be set up in the fast fly version. But I also lost the ground sheet. North face no longer has a ground sheet that fits this tent. Or they will refuse to sell one separately From the newer model. Would love to see them start selling the ground sheets.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this tent for ski mountaineering and mountain hunting (goats, sheep, caribou, grizzly) in Alaska, where conditions can be difficult. It weighs a bit more but offers protection that inspires confidence to push the envelope and climb, ski, and hunt in places that might kill you if your gear fails.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cousin recommended this tent, as he used it when climbing Denali and he loved it. After much additional research into 4-season tents, my brother and I split the cost on this one, as it's pretty pricey. That was two years ago. Since then we've used it about five times and have had trouble with the rainfly. Last winter the plastic window in the front entrance of the fly fell out in explicably. This winter (Jan of 2024) we brought it camping in a steady, but not intense rain, and the entire fly started leaking. When we peeked through the vents, we could see drips covering the underside of the dome. It was quite surprising and also frustrating, as those leaks started to pour in an all over my sleeping bag and elsewhere. Fortunately we had a spare tarp and we lashed that over the top so we'd make it through the night above water (it was mid-30's Fahrenheit outside as well). Instead of a 4-season tent, I'd call this a 3-season tent. As long as it's cold enough, we'll likely still take it out, but not if there's a chance of rain at all.
