prAna  Jewel Lake Summer Dress

I wanted to love this dress, but am returning it. It appears to be an empire waist, but this dress doesn’t really flare out, it’s a closer fit around my belly. I’m fit, but do have a bit of a tummy and am not trying to highlight this body part. I have another sport dress by prana that fits perfectly. I assumed there would be some brand continuity. While the bottom of the dress hugs in an unflattering way, the top of the dress is way too big, it gapes at the sides and offers no support. I’m a M, 36B, 5’5” and 145lbs. I really like the shape of the upper back, too bad the rest of the dress just didn’t work for me.

This dress was perfect last year, but it is constructed differently this year. The material pooches out near the front arm holes. It also just didn’t seem flattering up top the way it was last year. The color is phenomenal and I’m so sad that the fit is strange this year. I did try to stuff the top to see if it would look better with larger breasts, but this didn’t seem to make a change.

I was disappointed when I received this. I have several Jewel Lake dresses from previous seasons, which I love. The previous seasons had a thicker and shinier fabric. It reminded me of swimsuit material. I wore several of them all over Southeast Asia. The fit is the same, and is great. This version of the dress, the fabric is not the same. I returned this dress because the material was too thin. You could see my skin through it. My son said you could see the dark spot of my navel. The material feels cheaper than past versions of the dress. I’m noticing that Prana seems to be using less quality materials, yet charging more for their items. I attached images of the difference in the fabrics between the different years of the dress.

It's a lovely dress - the material is nice, fit is generally okay, but the 'bra' is nowhere near supportive. If the Prana team actually does take into consideration the reviews customers leave here (like they say they do 😉) then hopefully future versions of this dress will have the elastic band extend around the back, instead of just the front as it currently sits. Not only would that provide support up top, it might fix the gapping/sagging in the back that other reviewers have noticed as well. It's not droopy currently on (just purchased) but I expect it'll sag with many wears. Pockets are great.

Cute and comfy dress for summer and travel. I’m 5’7, 120 lbs, small chest and the XS fit perfectly. If you are larger than an A cup, you’d probably need to size up. Love that it is Fair Trade certified and recycled poly. Pattern is beautiful.

This dress is fabulous. I have it in 9 different patterns and colors (yellow dots, yellow floral, juniper green, charcoal floral, black floral, blue dots, black w/white shark tooth, orange and blue, blue leaves, and plain black.) It is a great travel piece as it folds up very small and does not wrinkle. It is also quite versatile - if I want to dress it down during the day, I will wear it with a hoodie jacket. If I want to dress it up for the evening, I will wear it with a structured jacket or if it's warm enough, just remove the jacket altogether. It is very flattering and shows just enough skin. I highly recommend this piece.

Odd fit. Returned. Deceptive in that the skirt portion does not flow away from the body but hugs every detail. Oddly, the top with built in bra was too loose (38D cup). I bought this dress 2 years ago, same size, and love that one. Not sure what happened with this.

This is an absolutely gorgeous, flattering, little bit flirty dress. I'm 5'2" and it hits me just above mid calf so it's a nice option for if you want a bit more coverage on the legs. The material is very soft and an athletic material but if you didn't know it you wouldn't guess based on how it looks. The only complaint I have is that the pockets (though I love the inclusion of them) cannot support much more weight than a couple of keys or a minimalist wallet without messing with the line of the dress. Overall though, I would absolutely recommend this and will be wearing it all summer and then layering with a sweater come fall.

I'm 45 years old, 5'9" and 158 pounds (athletic build, B cup). I *almost* returned this dress, but am glad that I didn't. It's a solid addition to my easy summer dress rotation, super comfortable, and I like the open back. But the cut is a little weird under the armpits. The fabric on the back attaches there, but it gets pulled up by the neck attachment a bit and is visible on the sides as it bunches. It feels like it needs more adjustments than I would like. Maybe I should have ordered a small, which is not my typical Prana size? It will likely fit you better if you are fuller in the chest or if you size down between sizes.

100% my favorite dress I've ever owned. Absolutely will be buying other colors. I'm 5'3, around 110lbs, athletic build and I got an XS. Fits like an absolute dream. Nothing too loose, nothing too tight. I like the length and weight, I don't have to worry about accidentally exposing myself, but also it is nice and cool in hot weather. I get compliments galore and the fabric is so soft! Best is I can ditch a bra and I don't have a single line/indent on my skin from a seam at the end of the day. So easy to make it casual or fancy it up depending on the shoes worn. Also holds up well, I've worn it hiking, at the beach, etc.
