I got this from an employer for an event uniform and first shrugged it off as another lightweight jacket, but it's been a go-to for running, biking and around town cool mornings/evenings in the high desert. I find most packable shells to be unflattering or uncomfortable outside of trail use, but the weight of the lining on this one makes it a tech jacket that can also look great and feel weighted enough; have gotten lots of compliments. I hover between XS and S; chose small here and pleasant sizing in the sleeves and torso.
The material and design of this jacket are awesome. Soft and cozy inside with wind breaking outside and still lightweight! The sizing is a bit off compared to all my other STIO jackets and tops. I am mostly a medium with a couple small items. I returned the medium in this jacket for a large because the sleeves were just a bit too short for comfort. The sleeves in the large are perfect - the body is roomier than I usually get but I can layer under it nicely. And it’s not so roomy it feels too big. Overall pretty great.
I have to echo all the other reviews: this is an incredible jacket for cold weather aerobic activity. I'm not sure how it can be so thin and keep me so warm? It allows moisture to exit so you aren't soaked (and it isn't soaked, either) with sweat after exertion. I have been wearing it to xc ski all winter and also for cooler weather runs in fall and spring. It also has a soft feel so it's not loud to wear. I had been trying to find a jacket like this and couldn't be happier. When you nail it, you nail it, Stio.
I bought this jacket to use not only as a spring/fall jacket; however its primary purpose is to use as a layer during our cold Vermont winters doing outside activities. So far it seems perfect for the job. I purchased a medium and was worried it might be too small to layer over a fleece or have sleeves that were too short (I have ridiculously long arms). To my great surprise, it is the perfect size!
I like the fit. Not too tight. Gives the warmth you need
I absolutely love this jacket. I purchased the Quiet Gray, which is a soothing and versatile pale gray tone with contrasting zipper pulls in blue. The interior lining is super soft and cozy. I wear this in cool weather (45-60 degrees), perfect for hiking and outdoor sports. The fit is flattering and slightly fitted without feeling tight. I purchased a Medium and the fit is perfect for me (5'6 and 145 pounds, average build).
I've tried a lot of active insulated layers, and always gotten too hot. This is the best one I've had, by far! Great for XC skiing or running in cold temps and is a go-to layer for ski touring. I'll wear it on the uptrack when it's cold, or as a midlayer to put on for the down if it's warmer. Breathable, lightly wind and water resistant--it's the best!
I love this jacket and only wish I bought it sooner. It’s perfect for fun in the cold. It is perfect for climbing, running, and other activities in the shoulder seasons and winter. The fit is perfect, and I like the elastic on the waist. The outer material also doesn’t snag when climbing.
This jacket is perfect for chilly active days. I took it instead of a regular down coat on a recent backpacking trip and I was worried I might be cold, but I stayed nice and cozy with this layered over a lightweight fleece, and my pack was much less full.
My new favorite lite jacket! Perfect spring and hiking. Have only worn it once yet but seemed to do well in the wind or at least for my liking. Love the fleece lining. I got the boundless color in my normal size medium.
