Excellent and well thought design. The 4-line charging cable can be plugged into USB-A or USB-C power sources. A tiny LED on each cell indicates charging or charged. The portability is great for travel. Also includes a plastic case to hold the cells.

With a 320 lumen spot, left on continuously for over 3 hours, over 8 hours, and even at 15 hours in 80 degree (F) temperatures, these batteries delivered. In a "worst case scenario", you would still have light at over 24 hours, albeit small. Cold beater: Similar performance was found at freezing temperatures for 4 and 8 hr. continuous on durations, making this a suitable "shift light" for those working in cold temperatures. Durability: After 8 hours in the freezing cold, the batteries still presented a full, bright power source after letting warm to room temperature and then 85 minutes to charge. Alkalines would be toast. Other devices compatibility: In the RC truck rapid acceleration, deceleration, cornering, and obstacle resistance were superb for over 30 continuous minutes. The truck was then left "on" for 48 hrs. and still had 75% of its power while continuously used again for over 30 minutes. Conclusions A great bang for the buck when used in small lights and toys! These batteries may seem a little bit high priced, but let me tell you for the price you pay that shirt to pack a punch. They are amazing. They are the strongest, longest lasting and durable convenient batteries I’ve ever use that were rechargeable I put them in the coast, headlamp and flashlight and that runs for 2 to 3 times the duration of the runtime of the light on top of the convenient and easy for USB-C charging plug adapters that come with them makes them even more amazing. Absolutely amazing love them and will start buying these now instead of leaving competitor ones that are nowhere near the quality. Another great product thanks coast!
Great batteries
I received these AAA batteries a few weeks ago and was a bit skeptical so I decided to run them through their paces on various flashlights and compared them to the bunny brand batteries I generally use. They hold up well and charging doesn't take too long. Pros Can charge with USBC cords Good battery life Charging light indicator on the positive side of the battery Batteries can be charged with a USBC battery supply in the event of a power outage Cons I wish the charging cord was a little longer I will be looking to purchase more when they're back in stock

I received a set of these (gratis) about a year ago. Meant to put them to work for a couple of months before writing my review (oops). I have a Wyze bathroom scale that uses AAA batteries and chews threw a set of Alkalines about once a week, so I had the perfect use case. Initially, the batteries worked well and held a similar charge. It didn't take long for them to slowly start draining quicker. Now I get maybe 2-3 days, and one battery has died altogether (within the first three months). I would submit for the warranty, but they didn't cost me anything. Pros: Convenient case and charging cable Convenient charging indicator lights Convenient replacement Cheaper in the long run (even with the reduced runtime) Cons: Battery life isn't as long as alkaline batteries
Great option for AAA batteries, USB-C too!
Very happy with these batteries. Super easy to charge with the 1-to-4 cable, so you can charge all 4 at once. Great alternative for alkalines that can die and leak. Measured 1.5V with my multimeter, so all seems good. I haven't had any issues with any device that I've used these in.
Great Rechargeable Batteries
Great rechargeable batteries. Love the fact that they can be recharged independent from each other. Depending on the device using them, you could even recharge them while they are in the device! They can be used on anything that uses the size you bought. Something I think that would be cool to seen on the next version, a charge level indicator if you click a button. Or another cool idea would be if possible, adding Bluetooth to connect to an app to monitor all your batteries! I will definitely purchase more of these as I can afford to do so!!! They use usb-c to charge which is nice since it's the same as my phone, headphones and several other devices!
Coast “AAA” Rechargeable Batteries 4 Pack is GREAT
Coast “AAA” Rechargeable Batteries 4 Pack, Model #30985 is a GREAT set of batteries. These batteries each have a built-in Type C charging port, and the 4 lead Type C charging cable is included with the batteries. The nice feature of this charging cable is that the input side has a standard USB Type A along with a Type C conversion adapter so it can be used with literally any traditional cell/smartphone as the charging power source. As a result of this unique charging cable, you now no longer have to carry/use a bulky charger base to recharge the batteries. I really like the fact that each battery has its own LED (Light Emitting Diode) indicator charge light (red while charging and green when completely charged) and each rechargeable battery has the Coast overcharge/discharge protection circuit to protect the operating of life the battery. Depending on the charge that remains in the battery when it is recharged will determine how quickly the battery recharges to maximum strength, usually in a half to one hour time period. The rechargeable battery size is the same dimensions when compared the same size non-rechargeable battery, so they fit and work great in flashlights, radios, etc. where you have used traditional, non-rechargeable batteries. I really like the fact these batteries are corrosion resistant as I have ruined some flashlights in the past with traditional leaky batteries when they die. These batteries are an excellent choice to use in order to be environmentally responsible compared to the traditional throw away batteries! According to Coast, these batteries can be recharged up to 1,000 times so I am very impressed. This represents true cost savings when compared to buying traditional non-rechargeable batteries. I am a true believer in the performance of these Coast rechargeable batteries!
Basically Useless
Useful life with these AAA batteries is no better than the worst of those "batteries included" AAAs that you find in imported gadgets. The problem is that once a USB-C socket and the battery management circuit are installed into the container, there isn't much room left for the actual battery cell. Performance in remotes, scales, computer mice, etc. is far worse than NiMH batteries. Now I have the responsibility of disposing of the batteries in a responsible (and legal) manner. The warehouse retailer I purchased them from no longer carries them so I don't know if they will accept them as waste. The upside of this is that I've been forced to do a better job of managing my NiMH batteries and chargers.
Great Idea!
These batteries are game changers, individual USB C charging is one of the best ideas I have seen in a long time. No more bulky chargers or old style rechargeable AAA/AA that will not power most devices due to a lower voltage/current limitation on the old style rechargeable. As a A/V Installation Technician I have many tools with regular battery requirements. Multi-meter, network tester, cable toner, signal generator, laser level, flashlights etc...I am now saving a lot in the cost of disposables without impacting my tool use, great job Coast and top notch customer service.
