Cushy and supportive for PTTD patient
I have tendinitis and fallen arches in both feet, a wide toe box and a narrow heel, which makes it nearly impossible for me to find a shoe that feels good! These were a GAME CHANGER when I bought them for a trip to Costa Rica. The soles are so cushy and comfortable and the multiple points of adjustment ensure a good fit. They had great traction on a wet boat, stayed on in the ocean, and were comfy to wear shopping. I usually wear a 9.5 W need but these were so roomy that I went down to a 9. Worth every penny!
Great for wide feet
Velcro at diff points allows easy customization of width and also makes it easy to put on (I struggled with Keens bc the ankle area was tight when putting on the shoe, and the toe box was tight). Haven't taken these out yet into the water but did wear them out for a casual day and they were very comfortable and did not cause pain anywhere. Recommend.
Rave review
Rave review!! I bought this pair for a trip to Japan where the forecast was rainy but warm. I wanted airy shoes that could get wet. These were perfect for it. I wear a size 8 and wore them mostly without sox but they also fit well with sox. My toes had plenty of wiggle room. The triple Velcro allowed me to get the adjustment for each foot (two at the top of the foot and one at the ankle). The open air sandal made sure I did not sweat (unlike in tennis shoes in hot weather). The foot bed is very supportive and comfortable. When they got dirty I just hosed the off in the hotel shower and they dried by morning. The closed toe made sure I did not stub any toes on the many uneven trails. I have the Mahagoni color which goes well with just about anything I traveled with. The only thing that I would caution about is that the ankle Velcro strap caught on my soft yoga pants. It would be fine with jeans or shorts. I just rolled up my yoga pants a couple of inches. Love these shoes. Highly recommend!
basically perfect
love them! good in an out of the water (wore them on a long river float w/ rapids - comfy and protective),I've also worn them in travel through Vietnam, bonus: they don't shred the bottom of my feet like many other sandals do eg most Tevas). Ventilation is way better in the toes than similar Keen sandals (in which my toes always feel sweaty). The toe box is wide enough for my small feet that usually need a wide in shoes because of a long term foot injury (neuroma?) Basically i've been trying to find a sandal like this for over a decade!
Excellent, virtually pain-free walking!
Great shoe! I have terrible feet, flat with the right one in constant pain. This shoe evenly distributes pressure over the top of my foot so that the pain is minimized. Thank you!
great fit inferior traction
This was a tough one for me. I compared Keen Newports to these and my believed Oeen Venice which they stopped making. The Newports are very snug even going up a half size but the traction is superior to the Teva. In the end I think neither one is a keeper. I had the Keen Venice several times and it was perfect with great breath ability, loose fitting and great traction and colors. The Keen Newport I think is the next best thing and it is way too snug and they don’t breathe, but the traction is fantastic and superior to the Tevas. These are definitely out as they are too snug even with the laces fully released. After a few minutes wearing these in warmish weather my feet swell, get super hot and are bulging and I don’t think they are going to loosen up that much.
Solid Purchase; Runs Larger to Size
I love the reinforced toe box- much better from the previous model where the toe portion would detach from the fabric. I love the adjustment straps on the top of the shoe; it would be nice to have an adjusting strap for the rear ankle section, though. I have two different sized feet, and it would be nice to adjust my left so that the shoe fits better on my smaller foot. The first pair I bought, at my normal shoe size, were too long and I returned them for a 1/2 size smaller. I do prefer the boxier structure of the previous model rather than the length in this newer model. Overall, a solid and sturdy choice for hiking sandals. I am a huge TEVA fan and loyal to the brand when it comes to my hiking sandals.
Sturdy, comfortable sandals
This is my second pair of Teva sandals. I have one foot that requires wide width, so the adjustable straps in the toe area ensure that these fit well on both feet. A few days after I bought them, I wore them 8 hours a day for a week straight at Girl Scout day camp, and had no issues. Comfortable, great tread for moderate hiking and creeking, and easy to keep clean.
Tab at back heel was dealbreaker
Seems ok. Like the style, and the shoe has some decent support/cushion, but do not like the plastic shoe feel. I probably would have kept though except for the tab at the back heel... I was concerned that it would hook on something. Returned.
More comfortable than Keens
Went to buy new Keens but these were more comfortable, came in better colors (I bought the light gray) and with REI member coupon, also less expensive. Great find!
