I just purchased these. The size chart is extremely accurate. They are very comfortable. I’m returning them because the seam across my bunion seems already a little stressed. Only one zigzag stitch holding them together does not look like it will last long.
Worth every penny!
Very comfortable, very versatile. The concept is great, a shoe that you don’t need to wear a sock and can go anywhere including water. This is my goto shoe. Worth every penny!
I love hiking through the river in these shoes!!
I bought these a month ago for river rock hopping and waterfall adventures in Costa Rica.they were out of the box comfortable, light weight, true to size, and added stability and freedom while tromping through the terrain. I wear a 7.5 but have to go up to 8 sometimes for width. I ordered the 7.5 and they fit perfect, wide toe space for stability. I give the look and comfort a 10. The only downside..why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I do have to wear with socks because the seems rub against my feet and give me blisters and they are kind of expensive for what they are. My only hope is that the shoe glue is strong, because my other water shoes always end up falling apart.
Great River Shoe
These shoes are great for kayaking. The water drains well through the mesh, the traction is awesome and they are light and comfortable even inside of smaller kayaks. Great for day runs and capable for multi-day trips as well. I really like how quickly the shoes dry out on Idaho / California paddling trips where the weather is warm and dry. After an hour of hanging out at camp the shoes would be dry and ready to take on a sweet evening hike.
Amazing shoe
Purchased for salt and fresh water fishing kayak adventures--first time I wore them, I walked down a steep ramp incline and into the ocean to launch my 150 lb. boat--didn't slip, tons of traction--and then walked around in them for a few minutes while I finished rigging my boat--crazy comfortable even wet?! Fished in them for hours pedaling my kayak and then wore them while cleaning up my boat and putting away gear (climbing stairs carrying heavy stuff)...just plain comfortable. I can't say enough about these shoes...how can shoes that you don't wear with socks be so comfortable (yes, I'm the guy who wears socks with sandals because my feet are uncomfortable.) Just ordered a second set.
Brewer
I go to North Carolina Outward Bound every year with the 8th graders from the school I teach at, the past 2 years I've slipped and fell in the creek while wearing crocs. One of my instructors had a pair of Astral shoes on and let me try them. They felt wondeful, light weight and gripped the wet rocks. I told myself at that moment I'm going to get a pair for next year. I bought a pair but they were to be big so I'm returning them and getting a smaller size. I can't wait to put them on my feet. The great thing is that I'm a PE teacher in Florida and these shoes will be great with all the rain we get and doing the various water sports available.
Walking Power
I searched long and hard for the best zero drop shoe for my prostheses. I'm walking indoors but moving out to nature soon. Excellent stability and flexible shoe I've found. Two thumbs up from this bilateral amputee.
Grip you can trust!
Awesome grip - perfect for scouting and riverside rock climbing!
The Brewer compared
The Brewer 2.0 is my third Astral shoe behind previous purchases of the Loyak and the Hemp Donner. When compared, the Brewer seems to fit between the two. The Brewer sole seems a bit tougher than the Loyak to handle everyday wear but not quite as tough as the Donner. Generally speaking, I wear Donners for yard work, hiking rough terrain, gravel roads/trails, all year long. I wear the Brewers for Spring/Summer/Fall casual events where I might be in/around water or trail. I use the Loyaks exclusively for paddling and rafting. Overall, I like that the Brewer has the casual styling of a more traditional sneaker without sacrificing comfort or utility.
All Purpose Shoe
I bought the Brewer 2.0 to wear sailing, sea kayaking, and SUP touring. It also looks good enough that I wear it to the office and its my go to casual shoe for the summer.About the shoe:The toe box is very wide and comfortable, but the heal cup is snug and secure. It has a very minimalist construction, no padding, and little cushioning. This makes it a good fast drying water shoe, but probably not great as a light hiker. It also makes the shoe very lightweight and packable, great for travel. The shoe is super breathable. No more hot, sweaty feet. The rubber is amazing. You cannot shuffle your feet if you try, the sole grips instantly. Great sailing shoe.
