I’ve been buying Zoic MTB shorts exclusively for 15+ years and always size medium. I was due for a couple new shorts so I bought these Vale shorts expecting the usual quality workmanship and consistent sizing. When I tried on my new shorts, size medium, I couldn’t come close to closing the front snap - the gap was 3-4”! I couldn’t believe it. The combo snap and stretch bands don’t work for me. I prefer the traditional stretch band in back and loops with belt. I returned them and will be looking at other brands.
I have a pair of Zoic Ether shorts that I have loved for years. I tried these Vale shorts and they are very good. The overall design is very similar with super useful and thoughtfully placed pockets. However, the fabric of the Vale is thinner than the Ether and they are better for warmer riding. The fabric stretches and moves with you with no binding. Really like these shorts.
these are not accurately sized. M ones I ordered were well too tight on the waist... I would call them a Smedium ;)
