Stick to the classics, OR. This gaiter is a major redesign from the old Crocodile, with an instep strap that is only adjustable while the gaiter is off. The way the strap fastens is not only inconvenient, it also allows more snow and creek water to enter from the bottom of the gaiter, due to the extra gap it creates. The Velcro shape and placement has also changed, from a simple straight up and down Velcro that was centered on the shin, to an awkward bent shape that fastens on the side of the leg. The amount of cordura at the ankle is also reduced, leaving more of the leg exposed to tears in sharp brush or rocks or crampons.
