Great addition for car camping
I have had this for about a year. It is a great sun tent and for getting out of the rain. Large enough to cover a picnic table to cover you cooking and eating area. Two main poles for the large structure and then two poles to set the awning. I also have the accessory walls for the sides which is really important when it is raining. The front and the back have some overhang to keep out the rain, but without the walls the sides will drip into the footprint of the shelter. It is very expensive though. I got it on sale for 50% off or so. I think the walls should come with it as well, not additional accessories. One complaint about the walls, they are a little too short on the bottom, so you have to oil in the corners a few inches for them to fit. Not the end of the world, but if you pitch it with the corners taught, you will need to pull the stakes to get the sides on. Overall I really like it. I will set it up over the cooking area which keeps it dry from rain or morning condensation. It definitely doesn’t come backpacking with me, much too large and heavy, but for car camping it is fantastic.
Very neat, and way smaller pack than an EZ Up
So far, I really like this. The concept is really cool, the space is solid, and it can be entirely enclosed with the walls. 4 stars because its probably more expensive than its worth, and the walls are extra. also 4 stars because the seams arent taped, so that needs to be done for it to have much better rain proofing. I can also see a potential issue under rain, where it may leak from the middle, but I haven't had a chance to test it in any weather.
Great shelter
This is very to easy to set up and very light and compact to carry. It's replacing my 10 x 10 EZ-UP.
Car camping game changer
This item is a game changer for car camping. Now, there's no need to worry if bad weather is in the forecast for a multi-day trip. You pitch this baby and your picnic table, entire camp kitchen, plus your firewood and camp chairs, are all weather-proof. Pitching it requires some practice, but you can easily set it up solo. This thing feels like it could take on a hurricane. Include space underneath for a few chairs to lounge as well.
Passed the spouse test after one use
We've used this on a few 2-night camping stays during gravel races. With one or more side panels, its great for blocking the sun all day. While not waterproof due to the vents, it's a great shelter even in heavy rain. On a ridge in WV, I only needed the guy lines at the corners even during a storm. In NE open plains, I used an additional included guy line in a crazy storm. On the downside, it's big and the poles are long, so setting up with 2 people is ideal. When packing up, trying to keep the legs and lines from getting tangled has been a challenge.
Awesome BIG Coverage!
This is a great large shelter that more than fits over a large picnic table. Tall and easy to get in and out of. Setup and breakdown was easy. Lots of great spot to hang lanterns and accessories. Big improvement over my last shelter. I'd recommend using the guy lines and tying off the vestibule from the top middle as that is susceptible to wind gusts. There is a good tie out point for that and worth taking that step. The sheer size of this shelter makes it necessary, but properly staked out and tied down, its just what you need for the camp site!
Not designed for breezes
I set this shelter up in a sage canyon in E OR to avoid the sun. After a few hours, the shelter collapsed in light breezes, bending out the poles. I'm not sure what this was designed for. I plan on replacing the poles and finding some sucker to buy it from me. I'm not sure why people give this 5 stars when their poles break within 2 hours that is absolutely an indictment of the product.
Destroyed by moderate gusts
I actually really loved the thing. Set up pretty easy, very small pack size. Good quality stakes. Unfortunately it was unable to withstand 20mph wind gusts despite all guy lined being staked out. All three of the structural tubes were bent and destroyed. Very disappointing to have this happen on the first use. The tents at the site all did just fine.
Great product!
Used this product on a raft trip and it was a huge hit for helping limit the hot sun! Hope to use this both in winter and summer for wind, rain, and sun! Hope to use it for our store at various events. Easy to set up and very large!
I would buy several of these
I have a small teardrop trailer and the Canyon Shelter extends off the back making a perfect addition to the galley area
