This is a great lightweight boot. I was a long-time Solomon user, but lately I’ve been a bit disappointed with their boots. Since I was already using Oboz insoles, I figured I might as well try the boot. These have a much more supporting sole without feeling overly mushy or vague like many of the overly soft boots out there, but not too rigid where your feet are sore after 7 miles. They provide ample feedback and great grip. The durability seems pretty good. I just finished a week-long venture in SEKI and exposed these to every condition imaginable and was surprised at how well the foam held up to the sharp granite and quartz we were scrambling. The uppers are as flexible as running shoes and took no time to break-in. I have longer narrow feet and the fit, even with a half-size up, is great. Plenty of room without feeling like I’m swimming in them, and easy to tighten to my desired level. Not too hot, either. I took them on some hot hikes too. The only con I can think of, and this goes for all waterproof shoes, they can get a bit sweaty, so definitely take them off during breaks to let your dogs air out. Also, when they get wet on the outside, they can feel cold if you’re in cold climates. However, I had no issues with them drying even in the cold. There’s no perfect do-everything boot out there, but these are darn good and I’m going to get a lot of use out of them.
Only have about 30 miles backpacking on the trail with these now, but so far, very impressive. Easy fast break-in, with adequate support and super light weight. Ensuring these are water proof is important to me, so tested these by filling a bathtub with 3-6 inches of water and submerging them up to just below the top of the waterproof membrane just below where the laces are tied. There was no leakage, even while walking around in the submerged water. Will retest periodically to see how long they remain completely waterproof, but so far, very impressive.
This is my first pair of Oboz boots. I find the boot very comfortable and has excellent traction. The boot would receive 5 stars, however lacks full waterproof.
Good fit and easy break-in. But, not water proof. Water went through toe after 20 minutes in light rain. Look for 'Gortex' for real water proof. Getting Nikwax to do a complete water proofing.
