Great case, TERRIBLE telescopic handle
The first time I used this 22" hardcase, I had issues with the telescopic handle getting stuck and not extending all the way up. When it's empty, it works just fine. Well, I forgot to return it (my bad), and then it happened again on my next trip. Unfortunately, I was beyond the REI return window, so I contacted Gregory directly. They said I could either pay to ship my suitcase back to them and they'd replace the piece, or they could send me the piece to replace myself. I replaced it, but the new handle gets snagged on the way up. It's a terrible design!!
Easy to travel with and use
I have used this product for about 5 years and found it is so much easier to move around than my old (softside) suitcase. The wheels roll well in any direction, standing on all 4 or leaning on 2 wheels. The telescoping handle sometimes takes a bit of fidgeting (the way it locks going up or down, but easy enough to press the button again and adjust the position). I'm not sure whether the product design has changed in the ensuing 5 years; these pics look as if the zipper rests and locks on the top, whereas my locks on the size, but otherwise it looks pretty much the same. By going to hardside luggage, I miss having zipped pockets on the outside (and inside) to stash stuff (documents, phone, snacks?), but I like the feeling that these are more durable (and easy to use). I would buy it again (and am about to do so).
Good all around traveler
I have used this hard sided carryon for several years now on numerous trips and I have had no negative issues with it. It is strong, reliable, roomy enough for short to medium trips. After a lot of use it looks like new with a minimum of scratches. I have had no problems with the extension handle and its two stages are very handy. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it does not roll as easily on carpet which I sometimes encounter in airports and hotels. That may be the case for other quad roller bags as well.
From 4.5 stars to 2.75 stars
Loved this bag for carry on. Had this for 3 years, then I checked the bag. When luggage arrived the “hard case” was broken , sort of cracked. Too bad since there was a lot to like . But note that the Gregory is now discontinued. I would buy if there is any chance you plan on checking it. Proved to be too fragile.
Makes travel easy
I bought this luggage and I can say the quality is amazing
