Nemo Helio Pressure Shower Rocks!

The Helio does exactly what it advertises. You get a portable, pressurized spray shower with no outside power source. It’s simple to fill and carry thanks to a wide mouth cap and integrated handles on top and bottom. These also double as a way to hang the pressurized shower if you want to warm it in the sun or let it dry after use. A few pumps on the integrated foot pump will give you several minutes of spray. It isn’t high powered (or I didn’t pump enough) but it was plenty to rinse a canoe, wash down sandals and clean a bench of spilled drinks. I’d recommend it for anyone looking for an easy, portable spray solution for car camper or any other outdoor activity. NOTE: I would have given this 5 stars but it does take a little while to dry. Otherwise it worked flawlessly!

Multi-use Sprayer

I received this product in exchange for an honest review. The Nemo High Pressure showers unit is an impressive portable sprayer unit. The foot pump provides significant water pressure. As shown in the accompanying photograph, the sprayer can provide steady water flow at least 7 feet above ground level when the sprayer is placed on the ground. The sprayer head has an off-on lever that can be locked in the “on" position. This allows "two-handed" washing or showering when using the sprayer. I have observed that when the reservoir is filled with water to the maximum capacity and the reservoir is fully pressurized by the foot pump, a steady flow of water will be produced for about 30 seconds before the reservoir must be pressurized again. Pressurizing can be done at any time by the foot pump. When the reservoir is filed to about two-thirds of capacity and the reservoir is fully pressurized by the foot pump, the unit provides a steady flow of water for about a minute before repressurizing because the reservoir now contains more high-pressure air to displace the water. Not a huge difference, but nice to have an uninterrupted shower flow for a bit longer without using the foot pump (another bothersome first-world problem). With periodic pressure pumping, a three-quarter-full reservoir will provide a good 5 minutes of water flow. I would suggest that it is best to use a clean treated water source for filling the reservoir. If you do use something like stream water on a river rafting trip, I would thoroughly clean the unit with clean, potable water and air dry before storing. Follow the directions on the shower storage bag to air-dry the reservoir and the foot pump. The shower/sprayer head can be removed from the tubing connecting it to the reservoir. The sprayer head and the reservoir tubing are threaded together and can be separated for thorough cleaning. The sprayer head also has a mister/sprayer piece on its face with numerous small holes for water spray. This piece can be removed from the sprayer head for cleaning if the holes become clogged. Simply remove the threaded retainer ring from the sprayer head and tap the sprayer head against a kitchen counter surface. The “mister/sprayer" piece will drop out. Be careful when removing this piece because there are a couple of other pieces inside the sprayer/mister piece. Only do this last bit of maintenance as a last resort. The Nemo Pressure Shower unit is a well-designed and well-built piece of equipment which can be used on camping trips and for cleaning household items, pets, and outdoor equipment such as bikes and boots. And it is eminently portable.
