The Deiter speed lite pro is a great women-specific backpack that holds plenty of space for day-hikes in changing conditions. I personally am a big fan of easily reachable compartments on the outside for phone, snacks and most importantly water bottles. This backpack has more of them than any other backpack I've used. There's a convenient zipper compartment with a key chain for valuables. There's nothing worse than not finding your keys in your backpack after a cold winter hike! Weight distribution is good, and the shoulder straps, hip straps and back support worked well with my narrow shoulders and slighter frame. The backpack is very spacious - so I'd recommend using it when you need to pack for changing weather conditions, lots of nutrition and maybe some additional things for your friend, partner, kids or dog.
Although I was at first a little overwhelmed by the size and back padding, I was quickly pleased with its overall comfort and length. It did not feel too big at all and shoulder straps fit nicely not aggravating my usually very sensitive neck. I was particularly excited by all the pockets in areas I could access. My 13 pro (a pretty large phone) fit nicely in one of the chest pockets and securely due to zipper; my sunglasses hung from an outside loop; reading glasses in zip pocket on other side; a bar to snack on in waist zip pocket; with the other waist zip pocket for hankie (or keys). The two side pockets easily held a canister of water for both me and my husband and the main compartment on my back was ample for our lunch supplies as well as extra mittens and scarves. I also kept extra space should we get warm and needed to peal off some layers. Usually my husband is the pack horse but I was able to help out for a change, comfortably. On another excursion, I used this pack to carry my ice skates rather than the usual canvas back hanging from one side of my body. And, my size 91/2 figure skates with the blade protectors fit in just fine. Again so much more comfortable to carry. The color, grape/plum with a contrasting pink/plum surprisingly looks good and I did get a few compliments (no one has ever noted my backpacks of the past). Overall it is light weight, roomy with plenty of places to carry small and large objects. So far I am happy with this product and look forward to using it this Spring, Summer and Fall.
I love the color of this pack! It’s super light weight and fits a surprisingly large amount of stuff! I wanted a pack to take on day trips. I love the “valuables” pouch on top. It’s easy to access. I loved the emergency instructions inside. It also has expandable sides that allowed me to adjust as the trip went on. The top chest strap fit perfect. I don’t love the hip strap, but I rarely live any hip strap. For day hikes or short trips I don’t see the need. This pack was great though because you can just strap them and lea e behind you and it’s totally comfy! This is a great pack!!
This lightweight pack is the perfect day pack for any number of adventures. I was immediately surprised by how light and packable it is while maintaining structure and carrying capacity. I plan to take this with us on our honeymoon to Argentina because it will easily fit in my carry-on. I plan to use it for hiking, kayaking and biking. I recently took the pack on a day hike in the PNW. With the unpredictable winter weather, I like to be prepared with warm layers and rain layers, and I had no problem with carrying capacity. Despite only having a foam frame, I carried 1.5 L water in my water bladder (not included) and hardly noticed I had weight on my back, it was very comfortable and well distributed. Some of my favorite features of the pack are the pockets on the shoulder straps, one for a phone and one for sunglasses. The pack also has other pockets you come to expect and love, including hip belt pockets, side pockets, an interior pocket for a water bladder, a large front pocket and a top zipper pocket which I use for stashing snacks and my keys. The hip belt was minimal and comfortable and overall the pack adjusts to your body easily with a number of strap adjustments available. I am 5'6 with a short upper body and the pack fit me well. I would highly recommend this pack if you are looking for a lightweight day pack or something to take with you on vacation, I am excited to keep using it!
I used this to do a moderate local hike, about 5 miles with some elevation gain. I love the hip strap, it stops the pack from moving too much. The lightweight back support is comfortable and breathable. The top strap is adjustable so you can shift it up and down and let it out. The compartments are nice, you get a large compartment and a smaller zipper storage on the top and a pouch in the front. Its a great day pack! The only complaint i have is that the loop on the hip strap is not adjustable and the pockets on the hip are a little far back, but it does prevent you from rubbing your arms on it.
This is my new favorite hiking pack! Things that are upgrades in this pack compared to my previous one (for short hikes): The pole attachment mechanism allows me / my partner to do both poles in one motion, the shoulder strap has a pocket that fits my phone and pen, the waist side pockets are a lot more breathable and comfortable, there's a bungee loop on the strap for sunglasses that also works for earmuffs (my testing was done in winter), and it is generally REALLY comfortable. I forgot I was carrying as much as I was. It holds everything I want for winter birding: binoculars, field guide, notebook, pen, phone, snacks, water, trash bag, shoe spikes, poncho, flashlight, sunscreen, lip balm, first aid, and I still had room to stuff my jacket and mittens in there when I got warm. We're in Eastern Missouri, so I've mainly used the "Deuter Speed Lite Pro 23 SL Pack" for wandering the Riverlands, observing our avian neighbors this winter. I plan to continue using this specific pack going forward as we observe the migratory birds coming through and over our waterways. I don't have any dislikes, other than the color, but I prioritize function over style. I can't stress how comfortable this was for me. I love it.
I absolutely love the color of this pack! It fits well (women's fit!) and the chest/hip straps allow easy adjustments. The main compartment is quite large - but I wish it had a divider pouch to separate items. The hip and shoulder straps have additional pockets, though, so it makes up for the lack of internal dividers. It's lightweight and breathes well. I like that the company took the time to include information on what to do in an emergency and basic CPR information right on the inside of the bag.
This is the perfect pack for day hikes. I often hike in hot temps and the Speed Lite Pro has better ventilation than my usual day pack. I can actually feel the air circulate. It's very light as the name implies. I really like the substantial pockets on the chest straps, they remind me of the minimalist vests that long distance runners use. I easily fit my phone, sunglasses, and snack in there with room to spare. The pack is super adjustable, it fits snugly whether I am wearing a t-shirt or a large down jacket. In addition to the chest strap pockets, it has pockets at the waist that are stretchy for some reason, and an inner elasticized divider pocket for keeping things from moving around. The only potential drawback to this pack is that the panel that rests against your back seems to extend longer than other packs I have. I am long-waisted and this felt fine to me, but I'm not sure if it would be comfortable for people who are short-waisted. Last but not least, no PFAs! A lot of my outdoor gear has PFAs and I am so happy to see brands moving away from forever chemicals.
Overall I really like this backpack. Pros: It’s very lightweight; good pockets on the hip belt and shoulder strap for your phone, snacks, and anything you need quick access to; purple color is awesome Cons: Not quite wide enough to comfortably fit a computer for travel.
The size of this day bag is very nice. It’s not bulky or heavy. There are ample pockets for all of the day hike essentials. There is a very light but rigid internal framing that keeps the shape of the backpack even while empty. The loops intended for hiking poles are alittle finicky but they are nice to have. I appreciate having pockets on the shoulder straps and waist belt for quick access.
