Perhaps they were defective, but on my first hard walk with these poles, the bottom (smallest diameter) section failed when I loaded the pole to keep my balance. It didn't snap but folded in half, as if it had been made with a soft alloy.
I sadly left my poles at the mountain after a night hike this summer and needed a replacement. These are my first Leki poles but so far I am really liking them. They're so light weight and yet feel very sturdy. Cork grips were a must have for me as I've always found them to be most comfortable and these definitely are comfortable for my hands. The glove like straps I still fumble with a bit but I really like them. I feel they keep me securely attached to the poles and added a bit of warmth on my last cold morning out. I wish they came with snow baskets but overall a great set of poles! For reference I'm 5'4".
We really like these poles. Very light and easy to adjust.
