The bungees were shredded about 20 miles into a 80 mile ultra. These aren't durable enough for longer distances and hard, rocky, or technical surfaces. Fit is good and sustained through some very wet conditions. Didn't sag or become water logged. Kept debris out nicely too. If it wasn't for the poorly made bungees these would recieve a 4 or 5 stars. But when you have to replace bungees every 20 miles they aren't worth it.
Hiked White Sands monument about 4 miles with 1 gaiter on one shoe. Back at the trailhead, the gaiterless shoe had about a 1/3 cup of sand, the other had less than a teaspoon. Worked great. When I returned to the REI store in Sante Fe looking for my other gaiter the salesperson went and got a new pair for me. Great customer service....especially considering losing it at the store was my fault.
The toggle cord on one of the gaiters broke on first hike and the toggle fell off. The second cord broke the next time I used them. I do not recommend this product.
I bought these and use them on a 50 K ultra marathon in antelope Canyon. My concern was that during the run I would wear through the cords that go under the shoes. I’ll have to say that they held up well. Previously, I’ve had that problem.
Wore these for a 50k trail race and had no rocks/dirt/debris get inside my shoes. I’ve run the same trails without gaiters and poured piles of rocks out of my shoes mid run. These gaiters are lightweight, so I didn’t even feel them on. Highly recommend!
Got this product for the Lake Murry Endurance Trail Race. The cord that passes under the shoe was shreadded in less than 5 miles on both feet.
Got this for a frigid, snowy trail race this past weekend. I have never used gaiters before and wanted to reduce any time or possibility of having to take my shoes off mid race. It was a little challenging to get the front clip on the Altra Timp 6 shoes (no plastic or metal ring) and it secured well to the rear Velcro retention on the shoe. I like that these have the lower cords to help tighten the gaiter to the shoe. These are heavier than the Altra brand ones but these are better designed in my opinion. Going through snow higher than the ankle and top opening (walking and running), there was no ingress of snow into the shoe from the bottom or top. Might be too bulky and warm for warm weather dirt/gravel but it was solid for what I needed in the snow.
Relatively inexpensive. Fit petfectly. I have 12.5 size shoes the XL siz3 option fits great. They come with extra repair strings too should the main one break. Lightweight, get the job done. What more could i ask for.
I used these gators for the first time since buying them and the string strap frayed and broke in the middle. Not under the shoe. I had only used them for three days.
Simple inexpensive effective. Velcro heel tab is a plus. wish my shoes had them. Lightwt. Dries quickly. Wore them on the JMT without complaint
