These do not fit like other Merrells
These are not like other Merrells I have had. My main issue with this shoe is the fit. While the length seems appropriate, the width and volume are huge. I don't mind a wide toe box, but I just can't tighten these up enough to get a good heel lock. The laces are very close together, which limits how much you can tighten these up. They are ok for easy walks, but no runs or hikes. The outsole also seems to be wearing out very quickly compared to my Merrell Nova 2s. If you are looking for something big and squashy (like Crocs), then go for these. If you want an athletic shoe, this isn't it.
Not my favorite Merrels.
I am a 70-year-old male who is still pretty active. I bought these last summer, 2024, for a trip that was going to involve moderate hiking through some wet areas. While the shoes are comfortable, there is one major design, flaw, and that is the sole. It does not have the grip that I’m used to with Merrill’s that I have purchased in the past, to the point that I have slipped and fallen several times on different surfaces, including a wooded trail, a metal walkway, just to name two. They work great on pavement and mainly dry surfaces, so proceed with caution.
Disappointing Shoe
Gave this one a try and found it very uncomfortable. On the positive end, everything about the upper, including the drawcord, was fine for me and I think they look great in person. But the huge problem is it doesn't feel like a cohesive shoe. Walking in it, the upper and sole don't feel well connected and are simply quite uncomfortable. Its immediately noticeable and not a problem I've had with other Merrell shoes. For me too there is a feeling of the heel being higher that I don't enjoy very much. Avoid this one.
We're sorry to hear this style did not work for you. If we can help please give us a call t 800-288-3124. Thank you.
Innovative marriage of Vibram sole and mesh uppers
I walk 12,000 steps a day and replaced my worn shoes about a month ago with this model and I love them! The sole is slightly wider than I'm used to, but I find it helps stability, and the heel gives just enough bounce to keep me happy whether my walk is down Broadway in New York, a back road in the mountains of Colorado, or up and down the Hudson Valley hills. A great design that I highly recommend.
Appreciate the fantastic feedback!
Comfortable but not for my feet :(
Was looking for an upgrade from my older Merrell water sandals, but these did not make the cut unfortunately. Liked the comfort and feel of the shoe, seem well built as well but the sizing is just not right for my weird feet. Ordered a size 12 and fit well, but scraped the back of my foot too much :( Size 13 would have been to big... Wish they offered a 12.5 size. Will be returning.
Not very good
Wanted to like these, but these aren't up to Merrell's old standards. Let's just say at the root of the problem is that they have no "body." It is impossible to cinch them up enough for even moderate downhill walking or especially hiking. Your toes will soon agree these are pretty worthless.
Not the normal Merrill I have come to love
I have bought a bunch of shoes from this company over the years. But these are not as comfortable as the rest and the cost was higher then I would have spent. The run large I wear size 11 and these fit like a 12 or 12.5 so I’ve tried to wear them and can’t and I can’t send them back.
Why don't they like these?
I was surprised to see others leaving bat ratings for these shoes. They are super light and comfortable and you can hike in them. Plus, you just slip them on. When I bought them they were on sale. I think they were very good value at the sale price, but perhaps not at full value.
Buy a size down. Or two.
They run about two sizes too big. This is my fourth pair of Merrells and they’ve all fit me perfectly with no break-in time out of the box. Not sure how a company can change sizing so radically. And I’ve woken them too long to return them. Can anyone recommend a thick insole? 🫤
We would always recommend to not wear and return immediately if the footwear does not fit properly. If we can help answer any questions please give us a call at 800-288-3124.
