My new Doublecharge Stio jacket is perfect! I bought for the color and the warmth factor and I couldn’t be happier.
Warm and Comfy
This jacket exceeds my expectations. I was looking for something a bit more than a shell and didn’t want a bulky jacket. This delivered! The quality is excellent. I’m also on the shorter side and was thrilled that the jacket fit my proportions better than others I’ve tried which are always much too long in the sleeves. I like my jackets a little bit roomy for layering. For reference, I am 5’3”, 123 pounds and I purchased the medium, but am sure the small would have worked as well.
The jacket that is a deep purple color is listed as midnight shadow on REI but when it arrived it was navy blue with light blue accents. I was confused so I looked at the Stio website and found that REI has the color/picture misrepresented. If you are looking for a purple jacket the one listed here is Navy and not accurate on the REI website so unfortunately it’s going back and I guess I’ll order the actual color I want from the Stio website.
I’ve only taken the jacket out once for a day on the slopes but was very happy with it. It’s just the right amount of comfy insulation I was looking for. It has great features and lots of pockets. I have the blue—wanted something that would pop against snow mostly for safety reasons— and it’s a beautiful color. The small allows me for layers and still plenty of room— in fact maybe a little bigger than I expected, but I like the fit.
Ordered a small based on other Stio purchase, for example Women's Environ jacket I have in a small and Women's Pinion Down Vest in a small. But I had to exchange the Double Charge jacket for a medium as it runs short in fit, especially when pulling the hood over helmet, it then pulled up under the arm pit area and made it tight in the shoulders and accross the upper back. The medium fit much better both in comfort and appearance.
I haven’t had a chance to wear the jacket yet but the quality seems great. Fit is very standard, you can fit a layer underneath easily and feels very warm after just trying on. The fabric elastic cuffs feel very soft and not too tight, my last ski jacket they were way too tight and got in the way of wearing my gloves.
Love the jacket. It is warm, with plenty of room for layers. Fit is true to size; length is good for "mature" women. Only complaint is that it could have a few more pockets. The chest pockets, both inside and out, are shallow. . . Forgot to zip chest pocket and my cell phone slipped out. . . pockets need to be deeper.
This jacket is perfect for the mountain. It's very warm and I really like the soft lining. The hood fits over my helmet and cinches well when it's cold and windy. The pockets are plentiful and well placed. I have long arms and these sleeves do not leave a gap. The fit is comfortable but not bulky.
This is so windproof and warm enough on blustery days in Vermont. It’s exactly what I had hoped it would be. Works for skiing (alpine) and walks on cold wet and/or windy days too. So happy with this jacket! And it is cut well for this nearly 80 year old with a no-longer wasp waist. Perfection!
