Lightweight and Stylish

I had the chance to try out this sun shirt, and overall, I really like it! The color and style are great, and I love how lightweight it feels. The loose fit is a big plus—it doesn’t cling when it’s hot out, making it comfortable to wear. The slightly cropped cut works well for me and even helps with air circulation. It's held up well to washing. That said, I didn’t find it to be as breathable as some other shirts I have. On hotter days, I sometimes have to take it off to cool down and that's reason for the four stars. It also wrinkles a bit, but that’s not a dealbreaker for me. Overall, it’s a comfortable and stylish option for sun protection.

Great Sun Protection, but Awkward Fit

I recently tried the Mountain Hardwear Sunshield Hoody, and I have mixed feelings about it. First, the positives, the fabric is fantastic! It’s soft, breathable, and the odor control technology really works! I never wear deodorant, and by the end of my first hike in it, I was way less smelly than usual. That’s a big win for me! The SPF protection is also great, and the hood, while a bit snug and maybe a little goofy-looking when pulled up, is worth it for the sun coverage. Now for the downside, the length is pretty disappointing. I prefer longer shirts when I’m being active, and this one definitely rides up when I lift my arms, showing more midriff than I'd like. It just doesn’t feel flattering on my body, which is a bit of a letdown given how much I like everything else about it. Overall, it’s a solid piece for sun protection and odor control, but the fit just isn’t quite right for me.

Seems to be UPF, probably better in other colors

I got this jacket because it claims to work in "sweltering" weather conditions. At first glance, I was not so sure about the material being UPF - the white fabric is sheer and thin enough that I can see the color of the shirt underneath. Upon some testing, it does seem to provide some sort of sun protection. It's not a scientific test at all, but the index goes down a level in the UV test card that I have. However, from what I can see, it looks to be weaker than another UPF50 jacket I have which is darker.

It’s almost spring

The color and texture of the material is really nice. The jacket is short as shown in the picture, I would liked it to be a bit longer. I wish there were pockets and that the sleeve was longer with a thumb hole so I can also hide my hands from the sun. I also wish there was a bit of ventilation like holes or zipper to open it a bit. In the i liked it but rated 3 since it doesn’t protect your hands and gets a bit hot.

Lightweight and nice amount of stretch

Very lightweight, packable, and comfortable. It’s just stretchy enough (bought while pregnant and it’s able to stretch with me as I grow) and I appreciate the elastic at the wrists and waist to keep the sleeves and shirt in place. I wasn’t sure if I would opt for the hood, but it’s low profile enough that I don’t feel its bulk even if I don’t have it up.

Cute color, but the seams rub weird

The color is gorgeous, and the fabric is nice. It seems to work nicely as a wind breaker as well as UV protection. But the seams rub, and start to hurt after about an hour of movement. I didn't love how tight the cuffs or the hem were on me.

Perfect UPF sun hoody for multiple activities

I wore this sunshield hoody for the first time when I was at LEGOLAND for spring break. This was the perfect layer for the trip! It was just warm and sunny enough that I didn’t get hot wearing the hoody and it kept the breeze off of me too. The hood gave my next and scalp that extra protection too. It is also stretchy in the sense that when I would walk and get into the rides the shirt moved with me. It didn’t feel bulky either. I’ve now worn it hiking and it felt breathable as I didn’t get all sweaty either. This is a nice addition to any outdoor activity!

Lightweight sun shirt with a boxy cut.

I like this top more and more as I wear it. The material is perfectly lightweight and the sleeves and hood offer great coverage. It is cut slightly short for my preference, though seems to fit with current trends. As the weather warms, this will be a great option for skin coverage. I have not been in weather higher than 70F so I cannot speak to coolness in hotter temperatures.

Works well for lightweight sun shield

Overall this sunshield does its job. It's very lightweight which is awesome, the fit is nice, and the hood is a good size/shape. The only reason why I deducted stars is because I didn't personally like the very thin elastic on the bottom and the sleeves... I would have much preferred a different kind of cuff or finish.
