Horribly uncomfortable shoes, not to TNF norms
I've been wearing TNF shoes for decades and almost always found them comfortable to very comfortable. These shoes by contrast are awful. The tread/sole on these are stiff and plasticky feeling when walking, with odd flex to them, which is the start of a harsh walking/wear experience. The midsole is very thin and barely cushioning or anything resembling reasonably supportive, which coupled with a lousy, thin insole with no arch support, offers very little overall support for vigorous walking, let alone if you're standing on a hard surface for anything more than a couple of minutes. As a heel striker and tall, but not heavy guy, I can feel every step harshly in these. I also found that the design of the heel counter and ankle area uncomfortable, with notable heel slip - even when snuggly tied - that rubbed the back of my foot nearly raw. I even tried swapping in different, more cushioned insoles and these shoes were still pretty awful. These might work for some, if you're very small, light, slim- and flat-footed, but wouldn't recommend them for most people, esp. those with medium to high arches and/or high-volume feet. They also run a half-size smaller than I'm used to with other TNF shoes, so beware of that when buying.
1/2 Size Up!
Really cool shoes. I got the tan-ish ones but I might also get the grey ones! The point of my review thought is to tell everyone to go up a half size. I normally wear 8.5W in everything but I got 9W and they fit perfect. My boyfriend normally wears 11.5M and he got a 12M and he says they fit perfect.
Great winter weather walking shoes
Shoes are just what I was looking for. Waterproof with some traction. Good for walking around northern cities in the winter!
