Kelty  Lowdown Cot

Really easy to assemble and so light and easy to carry in it's cute little bag. I love the print and color. It's too pretty to be so functional. I've slept on this for two nights and didn't require any additional padding to be comfortable--just my cot and sleeping bag. Very happy. Will be recommending to friends.

The current sale price represents to some degree, how this is not a great cot option. On paper it looks great. Similar materials to Helinox's Cot One and spec sizes, except the Kelty is slightly wider. To me this didn't seem like a bad thing except that the Kelty's materials are not up to snuff and this cot immediately sagged and starting stretching out, even from trying it out with a sleeping pad. I'm 175 lbs and was 1 5/8" off the ground in the center, so would imagine that anyone closer to the suggested weight limit of 300 pounds would bottom out. With a sleeping pad, it felt, not in a good way, as if being in a hammock and that made it somewhat hard to get off of. I got to compare it side-by-side to a friend's (260 lbs) Helinox and after multiple uses, there is not sag in that particular cot. Pros: pretty easy to set up and take apart. Cons: what I mentioned above and the hideous fabric color/pattern. I like Kelty products, but they need to go back to the drawing board with this option. Keep the legs, address the materials and width and they might have a winner. As is, I'm returning mine.

Great cot! I have now put it through its paces on three different camping trips this year, including sleeping on it for more than a week. Set up the first time took two of us as the legs were a little stiff but I can do it on my own now quickly. The fabric becomes very taut (no major sagging) but it is too thin to forego a sleeping pad. I use an older thermarest with a twin sheet to hold it all together and it basically feels like a bed. Very comfortable and warm! It's really light, to the point that the REI salesperson did not believe that the box he was handing over to to me had a cot in it. The cot is also quite long so make sure it will fit in your tent. For the price point (it was on sale), it has been more than worth it to sleep off the ground!

The Kelty Cot is remarkably comfortable and is a great improvement from having to get up from the tent floor. I highly recommend it.

I haven’t actually slept on it yet, but I did a trial run to put it together. I am a small woman and I think relatively strong. It took brute strength to put this together and take it apart. Other than that it is a cot for camping.

The legs are hard to snap into place and even harder to remove. The longs poles are slow to thread through the sleeves and even harder to remove since you can't pull them out (they really need to be pushed). Once put together, it seemed comfortable enough. It has a lot of parts and takes a while to setup.
