Excellent “everything” Jacket
This is my “go to” jacket to bring with me on hikes and short trips. It’s lightweight, durable, and versatile. It’s waterproof, and the hood is one of the best hoods I’ve had on a jacket. It is very customizable by the back adjustment, and the zipper comes up high, covering the neck fully. I have worn this jacket almost daily on my morning walks in the PNW winter. It’s been great in light wind, light rain, and temperatures around 40-50 degrees. I’ve easily packed it in my backpack for longer hikes, as it folds up small and is very light for the power it packs! I am 5’4” and weight 120 lbs and the SMALL is a perfect fit.
Very light weight, flexible side panels & warm
I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. The Arc'teryx jacket is very light weight, it's much lighter weight than similar jackets from other brands but warm. The body side panels are flexible and is very comfortable. I went to Banff and lake Louise for a ski trip and was wearing it as a mid layer inside my ski jacket. The jacket is not too puffy so it is good as a mid layer when it is cold (~20F). It's small when rolled up to carry in a small backpack. I would wear the jacket with short sleeves alone around mid 50F. The collar is just around right when the zipper is zipped all the way up, not too tight that feels like it's choking but enough room to hide my lower face in the jacket. Pockets have zipper and one side is lined with microfleece panels so it's warm and comfortable. I don't understand why it is not fully lined with both panels of the pocket tho, it would make it even more comfortable. I really like that it has a pocket with zipper inside the jacket for ID and money, it even have a loop inside for keys! It's so hard to find women clothing with enough pockets and useful pockets! Fit- I would say it's a regular fit but still flattering. It has a feminine fit but it's not form fitting that kind, it is an outdoor jacket afterall and comfort and function is more important. I got the jacket in pink and it add a nice pop of color. Overall I like the jacket more than I thought I would. The only downside I see is the higher price. I do enjoy wearing the jacket in town running errands and for outdoor activities often.
My go to for most adventures!
I've been using the Atom Hoody for the past 7 years and have loved it since day 1. Not only is it light enough that you can wear it on warmer adventures and more cardio based activities (trail running, hiking, etc), but I also feel that it is the perfect weight for trips where you're waiting around. It provides just enough insulation that you feel comfortable. Packability is also amazing, fits into most bags, even if I'm short on space. Lastly, the durability of this piece is incredible! I've had one of the original Atom LT Hoodies since 2018 and it still works great! I love my Atom Hoodies!!
Minimal and functional hooded jacket
The fabric is nice to the touch, but I wouldn't really call it insulated. I live in northern MN and it's a perfect outer layer for vigorous activities like running or skiing on below 0 days, but if you stop for too long you definitely get chilly. I like the overall fit; although the medium seemed to run a bit large. The fabric breaths well and the hood has a nice cinch. I wish that thumbholes had been built in and additional pockets other than the two standard for your hands.
Wind-Resistant & Cozy
The Arc'teryx Women's Atom Insulated Hoody is a versatile and well-made jacket that balances warmth, comfort, and functionality. It fits true to size, though I opted for a medium instead of a small to allow room for layering over a sweater without feeling constricted. So far, I’ve worn it hiking and on daily walks, and it has proven to be a great midweight option. It’s light enough to wear in 60-degree weather but provides ample warmth in 40-50-degree temperatures, making it ideal for layering. The wind resistance is excellent, offering good protection on breezy days. While I haven’t had a chance to test it in heavy rain, it repels light mist well—though I suspect extended exposure might lead to it becoming saturated. The product description states that it retains warmth even when wet, but I haven’t tested that firsthand. The quality feels excellent, and I expect it to last a long time. There’s nothing I dislike about it, and I’m even considering getting another in black for more versatility, while my current pink one is great for standing out when needed. Overall, this jacket is a solid investment for anyone looking for a lightweight, wind-resistant, and well-insulated hooded jacket for active or everyday use.
Disappointed
So so so disappointed in the purchase of this jacket. After owning it for barely three months, wearing it a few times snowboarding and casually around town then hem on one side is full of holes and tears. You would think a hefty price tag and the reputation of Arc’teryx having quality gear would mean this would hold up but I’ll be going back to my HH jacket I’ve had for five years and put through the ringer and it’s still intact. I was very gentle with this new coat and I thought it would last longer but I’m pretty disappointed in the quality. I’m also disappointed in Arc’teryx when I emailed them about this.

The ONLY Jacket you need to own
The staple in ,y closet that i never leave home without. Its my fav jacket in the winter, spring, fall and summer as its not too warm and easy to pack away. It also looks stylish where I am happy to wear it in the city as well.
Solid active jacket for colder temps
I've used this jacket in a variety of conditions (hike in the rain, early morning beach walk, camping). I think it shines when you are active in colder weather (e.g. early winter morning on a norcal beach or snowshoeing around 35-40F). It also offers good wind protection and can withstand some amount of rain (like a light but continuous drizzle for 1-2 hours). However, this does not double as an actual rain jacket -- my shirt got wet after hiking in heavier rain for 2-3 hours.
Light, packable and warm!
I love my Atom jacket. It is one of my favourite. It's warm, easy to pack either on multi-day hikes or on day trips as a layer. I've worn it before as a base layer on freezing snowboarding days up the mountain. All this to say, it's super versatile, comes in fun colours. If you are curvy or have a bit of wider hips like me, I'd recommend sizing up for extra comfort if you want to wear layer under. For example, I normally am between a small or medium but I got a medium so it's not as hugging/form fitting. This is also my jacket in the spring months where the mornings are chilly on my walking commute to the gym. Keeps me warm.
My go-to staple
When 4/5 people in your group are wearing the same jacket, you know it's a good one. The Atom Hoody is my year-round jacket - the one I bring on every trip and the layer that's in my backpack if I'm not wearing it. The hood fits over all my helmets and layers well under the hoods of shells, too. It's the perfect, breathable mid layer that I also just wear as a jacket more often than not. If you're looking for a gift, this jacket. And if you're looking to invest in just one Arcteryx jacket, this is the one that'll get you hooked.
