Arc'teryx  Beta Pants - Men's

These are great rain pants. In the hard rain they keep you dry. I gave them a 4 and not a 5 for a couple of reasons. First I find that they tend to be bit baggy around the knees or just under. In previous rain pants if they were baggy it would be around the ankles. This just looks weird. I wish they had put pockets on the pants. There is a thigh pocket but if you put something in there it tends to fall against the top of your knee. I'd rather have traditional hip pockets. I prefer to put my phone or other stuff in there versus putting it in my jacket pockets. The pants are well made, but as with some rain gear tends to be a little loud when you are walking

I was using these pants on a light hike on the mountain. Was not raining and the water went trough to my inner pant. It was wt outside, but i think a pant with this price an "quality" didn't live up to the expectations.

I bought these pants and returned them after 3 days mountaineering in Cordillera Blanca, Peru and 1 day of use climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. I would have returned them after Peru but didn't have time to get new pants for Kilimanjaro. Main issues: (1) the fly zipper tab is super short and unable to be used with gloves on. You can zip down, but then tab gets lost in the fly folds and you can't grab onto it without gloves on. Don't buy these pants if you need to visit a tree in the cold (2) Pants are very baggy. (3) the plastic belt buckle fell off when I took pants off and almost got lost in the snow. (4) they're super loud with any movement. I've had good experiences with Arc Teryx before, so pretty surprised there were so many design flaws. I do like the full zipper sides but that was the only thing I liked about them.

This is for revised version 2024/2025 Fit: Not slim fit like before. True to size with articulated space around knees, which looks a bit bulky. You can probably even fit some knee pads with 1 or 2 layers in them Fabric: PFAS free GoreTex with higher denier than previous, which is more durable but also a bit more stiff and even more noisy (cracking sound) during movement 3/4 side zip instead of full zip - I'm ok with either but some might have strong opinions. No more elastic band (was criticized for being useless). No hanging loop. Surprisingly how much I miss hooking pants so easily with it

Truly happy with these pants! I’m 5’10” and weight about 140lbs, grabbed the medium size with regular length. They do fit a little big which is great for layering. The adjustable band around the waist as well as the leg pocket are my favorite features. Although they aren’t really made for skiing, they still preformed very well, just had to pull the zipper up around boots.

Great wind proofing, but also breathable never to hot or to cold as long as I stay active. Since I us this in the winter time I don't usually use the water proof feature but it does come in use occasionally. I know the application of these pants aren't centered around skiing/snowboard so the fit isn't the greatest around the boot area but otherwise they fit amazing. I haven't used them all to much only a couple times but it seems quite durable to me I haven't had any problems. So yes I would recommend this product to others.

I switched to these from my Norvan shell pants. I prefer the more durable fabric of these, but they are very baggy and very noisy--not very stylish! The ankle cuffs come loose all the time, and the cord hangs out awkwardly. I preferred the Norvan, which had the pant leg taper towards the ankle, and then you would just close the zipper to secure it. I can see why the ankle cuff is adjustable, however--these are clearly meant to be worn over ski boots (and a bunch of layers).

I ordered these pants but then decided to return them. The pants are indeed of very high quality (as is usually the case with Arc'teryx products), but what bothered me is that they are very wide around the knee area and also lack a nice detail such as a hang loop. I think a hang loop should be a given on Gore-Tex pants, which are often used in wet conditions and need to be dried afterwards. A hang loop doesn’t add any significant weight either.

I use these as waterproof pants for hiking as a way to layer. I find they are great to quickly slide on when it starts to rain. I found the fit was much bigger than I was anticipating. I got a M-Short. For reference I typically buy 32-R in pants like the gamma. The fit in the Beta is longer than I expected and the short cuts off slightly below my ankles. The waist is large too but what’s nice is the built in belt is great for synching them to fit your waist. I’ve seen some comments about there not being a loop to hang them in the back. While I agree it would be a nice feature, I just hang them by the belt on my hook and that does the trick. Similarly, the one pocket is nice, but I wish there were some more. That’s why I ended up returning my alpha-SL jacket for a Beta-SL. Overall, they do the job. Time will tell how the durability is, but I am impressed with the pant

They perform very well as a wind and moisture barrier. The pants got four stars and not five for the fact that the side zippers should have might as well come up higher and would have been a more useful feature.
