Not usually a hat person! Am now!

[Employee of arcteryx] So- I love to paddle board and canoe in the summer so wanted something that’s light, provides the shade to my face & neck and will stay on in the wind. This was great! It fits really great- snug on my head but not tight (I got the small/medium). Light enough that it kept my head cool (and I run REALLY hot!)- even a cap is usually too hot for me. And then coming around into a windier area I was able to cinch it up around my chin and it stayed on. Also kinda nice to take off and leave on my back without the elastic or anything being too tight around my neck. I got the canvas colour- goes with everything! Would recommend!

Sorry to say but this is absolutely the worst hat.

I'll start by saying the hat looks great and is very lightweight. But because the hat is made from such lightweight and flimsy material, whenever there is even the smallest breeze the hat flaps around all over the place. To be clear, this problem occurs pretty much all the time even on very calm days with almost no wind, it only takes the tiniest of breezes to make the hat go lopsided and flap around. I seriously wonder if the team who designed this hat actually wore it outside at all. Unfortunately due to the problems mentioned it's completely useless for wearing even in a sheltered city environment let alone on a hiking trail or mountain.

Hello Nick, thank you for sharing your experience with the Sinsola Shade Hat. We’re glad the lightweight feel and look worked for you, but we hear you on how the soft, packable brim can move around even in very light wind. Because the hat is intentionally unstructured, it doesn’t have the rigidity to stay stable on breezy days, which is exactly what you’re noticing. One thing that can help is using the chin cord, which is designed to keep the hat anchored. It won’t make the brim rigid, but it does improve stability and helps the hat stay centered. Your feedback on real‑world performance is appreciated, and we’re sharing it with our product team as they continue refining structure and stability across our packable sun hats.

Nice hat

Love the hat, just wish it had wire in brim to hold shape more.

Light, Breathable, protective!

I’m so happy with this sun hat! It’s exactly what I needed for long days outdoors. The brim is wide enough to give full shade over my face and neck, yet it still feels light and breathable. The material doesn’t trap heat, so I can wear it comfortably even under strong sun. It folds easily into a tote or beach bag and pops back into shape perfectly — great for travel. The adjustable chin strap keeps it secure on breezy days, and the fit feels comfortable for hours. I love that it looks elegant enough for brunch or the beach but also practical for hiking or gardening. Overall, this is one of the best sun hats I’ve owned — it combines protection, comfort, and style in one. Highly recommended for anyone who spends time outdoors this summer!

Lovely light sun hat

I love this sun hat so much that I got it in 3 colors. I think it looks super cut and the brim is wide which offer good sun protection. The materisl is light so its not too hot. I often hide the string by putting it inside the hat if not windy outside. It is also handy to be able to use the string to let the hat hang on my back when going indoor into storres…

Poor Brim Stability

The hat was OK from a being lightweight cool, but the lack of stability of brim made it unusable for trail. Any breeze - even a slight on would cause the brim the flap up, exposing face / neck to sun. I would return brim to "down" position just to have it repeatedly flip up. In the course of a 6 hr hike I can say the brim flipped up dozens of times on a mildly breezy day. The only way to control it at any level was to keep my down - which is not ideal for keeping focused on trail. It became flat out annoying.

Light weight

Light weight with great coverage! The shape of the hat on the website looked a bit strange but in person it is less bucket shape which I was looking for.

Good sun protection; brim flips up in the wind

I got the Habitat color thinking it was white; in person, it's pretty green/khaki colored. Exchanged for black. I was worried the black would be too hot in the sun but it's not, it's totally fine. I love how lightweight this hat is, and super scrunchable for travel. The one annoyance is when it's windy, the brim flips up pretty easily. But that happens with most wide brim hats and this one is no different. The sun protection is awesome. Love the brim width. I have a 23" circumference head and the L/XL is great.

Lightweight hat with excellent coverage

The brim is not too short, and not too long. I can see under the brim, and it covers my face. The hat is also extremely lightweight - so important in hot weather. The only complaint? I wish it came in more colors!

Great sun hat

Best sun hat I have ever had. Lightweight, very comfortable, head doesn’t get hot and sweaty as it does with other brand hats I have bought. Nice size brim that protects against the sun. Chin cord is thin and light, especially helpful against wind and breezes. Folds down nicely in my bag, and bounces back into shape when I take it out. 10/10
