Strap is fine, they’re doing it wrong.

For everyone freaking out about the strap: The instructions are literally sewn on the the back of the cot. It goes around the back leg and loops back to the other side, not around the whole cot. It’s a very nice piece of gear. Super comfy and very sturdy. Probably will last for years.

Good cot, horribly executed securing strap length

I have used it but for only 1 trip last week, 5 nights. I did use a REI Campwell sleeping pad on it for the warmth because lows could have gone down to 15-20f, the lowest it got was 28f. I would really like to try the cot when the lows aren't so bad where I won't need the added insulation. I'm not certain if the cot's pad provides any type of insulation but I wasn't willing to try and find out on this trip. The cot is comfortable and I slept well on it, I'm mostly a back with some side sleeping. I wouldn't believe it would be good for stomach sleepers but I really don't know. Is it the "dream cloud" of cots? I would not go that far but kind of seems it should have been that way based on the independent, favorable reviews the Kingdom cot gets, the Wonderland is supposed to be nearly identical. I have not taken advantage of the cot's adjustable back either but I'm kind of looking forward to trying that out, while reading a good book, on an upcoming solo trip where my tent will have more room. The bad. There is an item that is really unacceptable and that is the "wonderful" strap that was added to the Wonderland cot, which supposedly is what separates it from the Kingdom cot. The strap is there to keep the cot folded up. Well, the strap is WAY to short, and whoever signed off on the strap length does not know design. On the strap is an adjustable hook piece but there is absolutely no reason for the hook to be adjustable as the hook has to be all the way to the end of the strap, and I do mean ALL the way. Even then, the strap is barely able to reach the connection point, after the cot is folded up and you carefully put all your weight on it to compress it. The strap then unacceptably cinches/compresses down both ends which I can't believe is good for the pad. I have contacted REI to request they send me a longer strap but they are unable to send a replacement, they did offer to send a third party strap but I find that unacceptable for a $200 cot that is supposed to be one of the better car camping cots available. I was initially told that the product team stated the strap is supposed to be snug to keep the cot folded up. Duh, that is why there is an adjustable cinch strap but since the hook is required to be all the way at the end, there is no reason to try and cinch it up, which you can't anyway. I realize this seems to be such an insignificant item/issue but I also can't believe someone could be that ignorant to put such a short strap on it. Other than the extremely dumb strap length, the cot seems well made, thought out and designed well. Would I buy it again the way it is for the price? I can't raise my hand immediately and say yes, so possibly, but I'd be conflicted paying $200 for how ridiculously short that strap is, it's almost insulting. If REI fixed the strap problem I would absolutely buy it again... REI, are you paying attention or will you ignore this horrible aspect of this cot? I am headed to REI today to see if somehow I received a defect. That is an hour drive one-way for me to do that so obviously I find this strap issue a deal breaker. The added pictures try to depict how short and tight the strap length is. The strap is so tight, it is very hard to release and the connection point is already starting to fray. The last picture shows that the strap is all the way out.

Great cot, but the strap is too short.

Very comfortable cot, but as expressed in another review below, the strap for securing the cot when folded is too short. The way it comes strapped out of the box does not hold the head section in place. I solved the issue by buying a set of aluminum G-hooks with gates and a foot length of 1.5" webbing. Folded it over itself and sewed it together to make an extension. Now the strap holds the cot securely in place

Spacious cot, short stowage strap.

The cot itself is wonderfully spacious for someone like me, and is pretty comfortable even without a pseudo-mattress. Quite easy to set up, just loosen a couple knobs, unfold the two ends, tweak the feet to the terrain, and you're good to go. Biggest complaint though it the strap that's supposed to loop around the thing to keep it closed up; it's too short. I've adjusted the hook as far out as it can go, and even brute forcing it to pull as tight as possible, I can't get the hook to reach the loop. Could stand to re-measure the material length for the strap, but that's a manufacturing thing. I'm likely to just need to use a decent bungee cord to hold it closed.

So comfy!! Even better than my first Kingdom cot

I had used the first version of the kingdom cot for years and gave it away recently. I instantly regretted that choice, lol. I had some issues with it though, which was partly why I gave it up. I could never figure out how to properly set it up without having to wrestle with it and having it collapse under me a few times. The comfort level of sleep was fabulous though, once I got it set up. So, I ordered myself a new one. I picked it up today and set it up with no issues in 5 minutes. Maybe because the instructions are sewn onto the bottom of the tent, which is so helpful. I think it’s even a bit longer than the OG kingdom cot. It’s just as comfy as I remember. I can side sleep, elevate the head, it’s amazing. It makes a huge difference in my sleep comfort! I use it by itself in warmer weather and with a thermarest underneath in cold. Some people have had issue with the strap. Maybe because mine came right out of the plastic, I was able to see how it was meant to be used; you don’t wrap it around the whole cot, just the folding bars. It makes carrying the cot super easy and it’s a great improvement. I am very happy with this cot! I got it on sale but it’s worth every penny. Yes. It’s bulky. Yes. It’s heavy. But not so much that it’s not doable. I’m 49 and by no means a body builder, I have a bad neck and am a little fluffy, and I manage fine with it. Love. It!!!!

Cloud 9 in Chisos Mountains

If you're looking for a cot that actually lets you sleep like you're at home (or better), this is it. I took this cot on a week-long trip to Big Bend and camped in the Chisos Mountains—every morning, I woke up refreshed, well-rested, and ready to hit the trails without that usual backache or stiffness you expect from camping gear. Set-up was quick and easy, and it felt solid and supportive all night long, even on uneven terrain. No creaks, no sagging, and no regrets. Honestly, it felt like sleeping on a cloud in the middle of the desert. If you’re planning a serious adventure but still want comfort, this cot’s a game-changer. Highly recommend!

Comfortable, but cot can flip, strap hard to use

I use this cot as a guest bed for the spare room. I put a box under the end of the cot since it flips upwards if anyone sits on the foot of the cot. Wish there are support legs for that end or adjustment to support it. It's a wrestling match setting it up and closing it due to the legs go all over the place but with practice, I think I'll get it right. Have same problem with the strap to bind the cot so I use 2 additional straps to keep it closed for storage. This is a sturdy cot and a couple of guests including my 2.5 years old grandson say it's comfortable, but I do place a light futon on top under the sheets for them.

comfy but huge

Just went on our first camping trip. Putting these in the back of my VW Alltrack was a nightmare. They’re absolutely massive and they don’t stack easily whatsoever. They’re strangely shaped so they’re hard to pack. They’re obviously very large in the tent as well. That being said, they’re incredibly comfortable and I’ve never slept so well while camping. Felt like being at home in my bed.

comfy, but large!

I bought two of these for a comfortable setting in a 6-person tent. It wasn’t until I picked them up that I realized how big they are. Are the comfortable and relaxing? Absolutely. Are they small when folded down for easy transport? Definitely not. If you are traveling in a suburban, or keep these permanently located somewhere like a cabin, these are perfect. If you are like me and travel in a compact SUV, these are problematic.

Wife loves it…no issues with strap.

I bought this for my wife who has back issues. She loves it. She has not used it on an actually camping trip yet. I did hesitate to purchase this cot because of the complaints that the strap that keeps it in a folded position is not long enough. The problem is not that the strap is too short. The problem is that people are using the strap incorrectly. When used properly it is more than long enough.
