Great pants

Bought these pants for hiking and they have delivered this far. Used them for an overnight backcountry trip and they were very comfortable. I always used to buy Arc’teryx pants one size bigger because they were built for tall skinny people however, by doing so, I had to return the first pair because they were too big and the second pair I bought were actually the same size as I always buy. The material is very comfortable and seems bulletproof. I really enjoy that they are a bit longer and narrow at the bottom so I don’t have to wear gaiters and nothing sneaks inside my boots while on long hikes.

Poor quality - glued leg pocket coming apart.

Really disappointed with these pants. After a dozen or so washes the glued zipped leg pocket is coming apart. Why use glue in the first place instead of stitching? I am now going to have to pay to have these repaired/stitched locally. Another, thing these pants shrink even at a 30 degrees washing cycle and become too tight like skinny jeans. Please bring back the older version which was more comfortable and did not shrink in the was. Over the years, I have noticed that Arcteryx quality has been going downhill. Please focus on good quality outdoor wear instead of the chasing the casual market.

Excellent for Athletic Build - Fully Functional

Excellent! If you are an athletic build ( for example I'm 5'11'', 175 lb, 38-year-old man with a 32-inch waist and 32-inch inseam) these pants are excellent. I usually use them as stand-alone or with a RHO heavyweight baselayer under them in colder conditions and they are phenomenal. They provide enough flexibility while being functional and looking good. I highly recommend. I bought both the Tanto and Black pair. I did however try last years model as they were on sale and had to return them as the 32 inch waist was too tight. This years 32 inch waist fits perfectly.

They made them slim fit but call them regular fit

They made them a slim fit but still call them regular fit. So just change the label and folks won’t be confused. For me the fit is perfect - I have thin legs.

The best long inseam pants

I've been wearing Arcteryx gear for over 10 years and i love them. These Gamma pants are the most comfortable pants I have ever worn. They are my go-to pants. Firstly, it is nigh on impossible to find decent quality pants that are longer than 34 inch inseam as I'm 6ft 4 ins. The material is just right for all seasons , if there is a cold snap of 2 or 3 degrees C then I can wear the rho base layer comfortably underneath. I find they don't overheat in the summer either. There is a useful hem adjustment for muddy/ snow conditions. The design and shape makes them a good fit and waist size can be adjusted easily with the belt which has a useful clip and loop attachment. The clip has an hook-like end so that the belt cannot undo inadvertantly. Very thoughtful design. I find they wash well and I'm sure they will last for years to come. They are smart enough to wear at lunchtime in the pub and look good and function well on the Fell. I am currently using them hiking and scrambling and everyday use. I only wish Arcteryx made more pairs of other gamma pants and more colours in the tall 38 inch waist size.

Solid pant!

My first pair of non veilance arcteryx pants. Very comfortable. Integrated belt is useful, highly adjustable, and nice for travelling. Pockets all have zips for security, making this a great travel pant. No rear pockets encourages storage in the front, which is probably best for posture. Would definitely recommend getting the right inseam length as the grommet and cinch cord at the hem prevents length alterations. Overall very pleased with this pant and would consider getting another pair in a different colour.

Revised Version is much worse than original fit

The revised fit of these pants is significantly slimmer in the legs and roomier in the glutes vs. the version i bought in 2023. Took a pant with a perfectly subtly slim fit and made them way too skinny in the legs and baggy in the butt. Not sure who this is supposed to fit better, but from the other reviews its clear this is not just a me problem.

Sizing Issues

I had the previous version of these pants when the sizing was traditional (S-XL). I would buy my pair in an XL because I like a looser fit on my thighs. With the current waist sizing, the pants are too tight on the waist, butt, and thigh. I can’t comfortably wear the current version, and it’s unfortunate. Bring back the original sizing please.

Reliable, Durable, and Built for the Outdoors

The Arc'teryx Gamma Pants have easily become the most reliable pair of pants in my gear closet. Whether I’m scrambling in the Rockies, hiking through dense forest, or even just running errands in town, these pants adapt to everything — and do it with comfort and style. I wore them on a four-day backpacking trip through Olympic National Park. We experienced sun, mist, and even sleet all in one journey, and the Gamma Pants handled it all. The Fortius™ DW fabric is soft yet incredibly durable — I slid down rocks, brushed against wet undergrowth, and even sat in damp soil without ever feeling exposed or soaked. The water resistance is legit, and they dried fast every time. One moment really stuck with me: we were setting up camp in freezing drizzle, hands numb, wind cutting. I remember looking down and realizing my legs were warm and dry — and for a second, I just smiled. It’s a small thing, but good gear gives you peace in moments that could otherwise break your spirit. These pants did exactly that. The articulated knees, stretch fabric, and gusseted crotch give full freedom of movement — whether you're climbing over logs or reaching for a foothold, nothing tugs or restricts. And the pockets? Just enough, perfectly placed, and zippered where it counts. Arc'teryx continues to prove why they're a top-tier brand. Every detail feels intentional. I’ve worn these pants through wind, water, and dust — and they still look almost new. And I have to thank REI — the in-store experience was top-notch. The staff understood what I needed, helped me compare models, and ensured the right fit. I love shopping at REI because it feels like you’re buying from fellow adventurers, not just a store. If you’re looking for a do-it-all softshell pant that’ll last through serious terrain and countless miles, the Gamma Pants are it. No gimmicks — just performance, comfort, and trust.
