Starts to Fray
Starts to Fray I really wanted to love these shoes—they’re sleek, minimal, and stylish enough to wear with just about anything. I purchased the Cloud 6 less than a month ago and have been incredibly careful with them. I wear them strictly for aesthetic purposes—not for running or impact—and only on dry, sunny days. They’re stored in their original box and haven’t seen any rough use. Unfortunately, despite this gentle treatment, they’ve already started to fray. This is especially frustrating because it’s actually the second pair of On shoes I’ve had this issue with. It makes me question whether I just got unlucky with two defective pairs, or if the quality just doesn’t hold up the way I expected for the price point. They’re undeniably comfortable and look great, but for shoes marketed as performance wear and priced at a premium, the durability has been a letdown. I’m hoping the company takes feedback like this seriously because the concept is great—just needs to last longer than a few wears.
Worse than OC5
If you’re wondering what the main difference is between the OC5’s vs this version, the TLDR is they made the shoe wider and cheaper but charged you more for it. I bought both the 5’s and the 6’s to compare (for some reason REI reviews won’t let me upload pictures) but there is a SUBSTANTIAL difference between the width. I have narrow feet so the 5’s fit me better. I also pulled out the insole and the 5’s insole were much cushier — you could also see that the 6’s insole was made of perhaps (?) recycled material and felt significantly thinner. When I initially tried on the 5’s in the store I was pleased with how supportive they were — lo and behold when I ordered the 6’s they felt flimsy and the cushion felt bare bones. I thought I was crazy until I had both insoles in hand and did a side by side comparison. It’s disappointing to see OC follow the trend of basically every other brand that’s having their 15 mins of fame - by falling suit to capitalism, greed and selling out vs sticking to the elements that made them great in the first place: quality.
Weird, annoying, sharp and grippy lip on heel
ON makes great shoes and I own a few pair, but this one was a bust. The problem is the weird hard rubber lip just above the heel. If you are wearing pants that extend beyond this lip, your pant cuffs are going to snag on them every time, with every step. It's super annoying. If your pants are short enough to stay above this lip, then I guess you'll be fine. ON Running, if you're reading this, please redesign these shoes without the weird lip, and let me know when you do.

No cushion
I work in a hospital and I’m on my feet all day. The insoles have absolutely no cushion. They are very uncomfortable and my feet hurt so bad by the end of my shift. I have had them for a week and I can’t stand to wear these anymore. I consistently wear a size 8, these run tight across the top of the foot and slightly too small. I hear the older version was a much better fit. The construction of these are cheap and mostly glued together.
Love the older models, but 6 isn't working !!
I have worn on cloud running shoes for years… The six version though is terrible and doesn't work for my foot at all… Give me ankle and calf pain after a couple days of wearing them… For me they are so tight around the top of my foot and makes it absolutely unbearable to wear…
Version 6 doesn't work for me
I've been wearing the Cloud 5's for years. The changes in the Cloud 6's make the shoe no longer work for me. The sole material seems different and bulkier, and makes the shoe squeak (annoying). The position of the inner arch supports have changed, causing pressure on that part of my feet. Cosmetically, the all-black version is no longer all black (which is what made them look cool imho), with silver accents and a silver logo. I will be returning these, and looking for another brand.
meh
I don't feel like I have the support I need in a shoe on 5-6 mile daily walks. Also, feel a bit like a horse, picking up rocks as I walk and having them wedge in the large gaps in the sole and then having to stop and pick them out.
Low quality
Comfortable, however, shoes tore around toe area within 3 months of purchase.
Great for travel
I've owned several different versions of On sneakers and was very happy with these. Needed to replace a worn-out pair. Went with a different "model," and really enjoyed these. Not too cushy, but comfy enough for all day wear, whether it's walking through towns in Europe or a quick workout at the gym. Love the quicklace option. Fit is true to size (which I find is not the case for all Ons...sometimes I have to size up for a comfortable fit). Was worried about going with a white sneaker, but any scuffs or spots wiped off easily with a damp cloth. Very happy with these Ons!
