Initially I liked the look and feel of these boots but was concerned if they would be to handle my trip to Iceland. They performed great and even better than I expected through ice/snow, frigid water from waterfalls, and even on black sand beach with knarly winds. My feet remained dry and comfortable the entire trip. Even when we had to run more than a football field to make sure we didn't miss our bus, these felt almost as good and comfortable as my running shoes. Super stable while walking on rocks in small streams. Didn't lose my footing at all. My wife talked about how much I spent on these but her new shoes didn't last, so now she's wants a pair of these for herself.
At first I was incredibly pleased with this boot. With a flat foot and previous metatarsal injury it has been difficult to find a shoe that is comfortable long-term, and this boot seemed to be working out in every regard. However, the lace eyelets along the top of the shoe consist of a thin fabric cord, and after three months of daily use, the laces chewed right through one. Upon further investigation I noticed several others fraying in similar fashion. Would happily purchase again if the eyelets are changed/reinforced. Wouldn't mind a few more color options as well.
Amazingly comfortable, I climbed Pikachu Mountain with these boots. I love the way they feel so much that I wore them for other outings for shopping in the mall walking around during tourist activities.
So far these boots have been fantastic for hiking in the winter and in spring when it melts. Stable and good grip. Yet quite light. Very comfortable with good cushioning. Fits like a roomier running sho. For winter I use a wool sock in addition to my regular socks and then they fit snuggly - in a good way. That's how I tried them on and bought them for - so I am very satisfied. I have size 13 medium width D quite constantly and I would say these are on the roomy side compared to a pair of running shoes, as it should be. (For tougher use of boots I would generally recommend having a par of wool or thicker socks under mort conditions,) They are so comfortable and functional, so I will probably use them quite a bit also when it gets warmer.
Comfortable shoe in every way,BUT, order a half size larger than you usually wear. These run small.
I really love these boots and for the price point. I previously was a Lowa hiker and I picked these up to replace my third pair of Lowa’s to start backpacking with my son on the AT. These boots also double as my bad weather shoe in the snow and rainy days. They are watertight thus far. However the welding of the boot from rubber to canvas material has separated after 1 year and frankly not that many aggressive trail miles. They still seem to be watertight for now, but look worn out. I am going to try epoxy or some type of shoe goo so they last another year or two. I will say my experience with Lowas have been exceptional. I’ve had boots last ten years even with some dry rot. I am on the fence with the direction I will go next, but I really love these boats as they are very multi-functional on the trail and on the pavement. They look great and as a comfortable as running shoes.
These are the second pair of ON boots I have owed and they really are the best boots for my working conditions. As soon as you slip them on they feel like the a re made for your feet with cushioning undersole and great design.
Lightweight and comfortable, good lacing system, but a short walk through wet grass and both feet are soaked for the rest of the day. Very disappointed in this aspect. Hiking in the PNW has yielded the same result every time there is any moisture (usually).
Great lite hiking boot, the tongue folds are a bit short so water can really only go half way on the boots. Durable and .
I have had a red pair of these shoes for over three years. Their waterproofing is exceptionally resilient and hardy, the grip is incredible, and their lightweight construction has helped when the miles added up. I could hardly want for anything more from a shoe - except more pairs.
