beware when you order on line you might get a demo product being used, I got the top end price point for Hoaks , they came in messy and and unboxed
My go-to trail shoe for years have been the Speed Goats, but I liked what I read about the Mafate X, so I bought a pair to try out on my fav trails. They were superb on easy trails and up to 1-2K/ day of climbing and I loved them during a >100 mile 10 day circuit of the Cordillera Huayhuash in Peru, including a lot of off-trail miles. After liking/loving them for ~150 miles of mostly easy runs up to 15 miles, I put them to my toughest test - the Pemi loop in the White Mountains (30 miles, >10K of vert, and some of the most technical trail miles in New England). They failed badly, caused blisters in the balls of my feet where I've never had blisters before. Maybe they would have been OK with superfeet or other inserts, but I'll only ever use them again on gentle trails, if at all.
Wow! This is like walking on an extremely supportive pillow. I may never take them off
Great. I use these for mostly non technical dirt and gravel
