I started buying Salomon walking/hiking shoes probably 15 years ago because I was experiencing pain along the sides of my feet. They solved the problem. Not long ago, I bought a pair of Salomon boots, and I bought these shoes a few weeks ago. Both shoes develop a strong, mildew-like smell when they get wet. I leave them in the sun to dry when they get wet. I have even started pulling out the insoles and using baking soda in the shoes. I am wondering what has changed. I have started wearing my older shoes again since this problem started, and they don't smell. I think it's a problem with the newer shoes, but I am not entirely sure.
I love Solomon’s products, one of my favorite brands of shoes/boots but The Shoe is hands-down the worst product I have bought from them if not, the worst trail shoe I’ve owned. First shoes are incredibly sweaty even sitting at the house with these on will cause my feet to sweat second, they are completely nonfunctional. The tongue and the issues slide completely to the outside and won’t stay up. But maybe that’s a good thing because when the tongue is upright, it is extremely uncomfortable. Solomon completely dropped the ball on this product.

I climb Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona every day. It's 5-miles, 2,400' of granite boulders with no soft places, no dirt, only sharp-edged rocks to tear up your boots. The mountain has torn up many lesser shoes and shredded all competitors. I've hiked with XA Pro 3D for ten years and recently switched to the Ultra 360 (same shoe, better padding). Everyone I've recommended them to has stuck with them. Nothing comes close! I highly recommend these for tough terrain. (They'll probably do great at easy terrain too, but I don't go there.)
These shoes are great maybe some of the best I’ve had. They are very rigid and durable I’ve been wearing them for about a year and I’ve never had shoes that look this good, hold up this well. I like how they are not too narrow they flair out just enough around the outside of the balls of your feet (don’t know the technical term) and fit great so I don’t have to buy the annoying wide fit shoes like with the Speedcrosses. Also I have to mention the toe cap… love those, super protective. I gave them 4 stars because of 2 reasons the tongue is a little too narrow but still works fine if it doesn’t move to one side or the other and second the inside of the heal needs to be reinforced, other than that they’re great. Here’s a picture after wearing them for a year.
I have been trying to replace my X-Ultra 3’s for years without much luck. I found the 4’s not cushy enough so I thought I’d try these. Right away you can see the mesh has been replaced with straight fabric, which is odd because breathability is key in a non-waterproof hiker. I’ve attached a photo of the 3’s, 4’s and the new 360 so you can compare. Time will tell if they breathe at all. I will review again once I’ve worn them.

The recent Quicklace lacing system is poor choice and unfortunately destroys both shoes pretty quick in normal wear. I have already wasted a few pairs of Salomon shoes because of it. The thin synthetic lace string on the top front(above the tows) of the shoe simply rubs off the fabric under it. It creates a long abrasion which soon becomes a hole and thus slices the fabric like a saw. These two materials do not do well one onto of the other. Please change it or offer the shoe with normal or redesigned show laces! Thank you.

The side panels barely cover the tongue and sometimes i have to tuck the tongue under before tightening the bungee. The problem is made worse by the fact that the tongue doesn't stay centered. Otherwise the shies are fine. They fit true to size and are good light hiking ahoes with a beefy soles to go with the light uppers.
I am a big fan of the X Ultra Gor-tex mid and low top, I thought I would try this as it seems to be in the same family. While it fits well, its definitely not the same support as the X Ultra GTX. It has a little less confidence that you can feel, if you were to step on uneven ground. Again, it's a good shoe, for more stable/flat terrain. But I like to not have to worry about that and to be able to go wherever, whenever I need to.

I’ve worn Salomon shoes and boots in many styles for years with great results but these shoes lack support, comfort and aesthetic appeal. The footbeds are thin and flimsy and they lack cushioning. The shoe itself appears to lack padding and support and they look like wide clown shoes. It seems that Salomon is starting to cut corners and cost but not prices. Look elsewhere when it comes to these shoes.

I tried on a size 13 X Ultra 4 at a local store and they fit well (I normally where a size 13). The store only had black so I checked online and liked the look of the herb/olive 360s. Ordered the size 13 and they were too small. Ordered a size 14 and they were too large. I then ordered the size 13 X Ultra 4 in kelp/earth and they fit perfectly. I preferred the look of the 360s but comfort trumps looks.
