Altra  Torin 8 GTX Road-Running Shoes - Women's

Got these for an upcoming trip to Alaska. We wanted rainproof shoes to keep the kids feet dry. Was not impressed or happy with them wearing out within 5 days of purchase. The top point at the tip where the rubber sole meets the fabric stated to peel off at the tip within 5 days of my kid wearing them around to break them in before the trip. I would highly not recommend purchasing these as the durability was not what I had been under the impr3ession of them having.

I love all my other altras, but unfortunately these are more narrow than my previous pairs (Escalante, Lone Peak 7/8). They have good stability features and I enjoyed the black/purple colorway, but I won't be able to wear these with a bunion. The narrow width also affects the toe box and puts pressure on the ball of my foot.

I have worn Altras for years. A couple of years ago I switched from Torins to Paradigms, but decided to give these Torins a try this year. Out of the box, they have fit well and feel good. I have minor neuromas and plantar faciitis on both feet, and put probably around 20 pavement walking miles on them in the first week with no problems. The goretex is a huge plus in the PNW! The lack of 5 stars is that I wish they had a bit more cushioning under the ball of the foot, and, well, Altra's strange color choices...

I'm on my second pair of non-waterproof Torin 8's and love them, and was looking for waterproof shoes, so I figured these should work great. However, like others experienced, the fit is much tighter. Other than my toe bed, I don't have wide feet, but these feel tight across the midfoot even with the laces loosened way more than in my normal torins. They also run about a quarter to a half size short in length. I'm really annoyed I bought these and assumed they would loosen up to feel the same as my normal torins. Since I don't wear waterproof shoes as often as normal, by the time I realized they wouldn't loosen up, it was too late to return. Really wish altra would have put some more work into these shoes.

Comfortable, waterproof workout/running shoes. Bought a size up from my normal since my usual size was too tight, in spite of the wide width.

These are very comfortable, felt very secure on my feet and I felt like I could walk in them forever until the left shoe developed a huge bubble under the insole when I was halfway through a 5 mile hike. I brought them back to REI, they immediately took them back and set up a replacement pair. I will revisit this review once I get my replacement pair.

I love that these shoes are waterproof, that's why I got them, but they are way too tight. There's really no give or flexibility. They are very rigid. It's the second pair of water resistant ones I get and I had the same issue, so it must be that.

Okay, first off… I am a guy… with narrow feet. I prefer altra footwear but the men’s size 10 is just not narrow enough. The women’s 11.5 is perfect. And these are waterproof, too. I can walk in tithe rain without having wet feet. I am happy.

Great shoe if you just want a wide toe box! My foot is thin with a narrow heal but I love to spread my toes! This shoe totally does it for me!
