Thrive through the thick

It's a great pant, I love tree planting in them because they're light enough for hot days and stretchy enough to bomb over logs but still sturdy enough I'm rip free after one season. Tree planting is where clothes go to die but these thrived. I got the long so there was enough to tape up my cuff to keep out bugs and water. And if you aren't standing in the water long it was a great splash proofing. I wash with my jackets so it gets a water proofing and that's only helped it. I've used them climbing and I would like a second short pair for a Capri style fit. I'm replacing my button with something flatter for better long term comfort under waist belts that's why it's 4 not 5 stars.

Quality Design and Construction

The Runbold Pants by Mammut are an exceptionally well designed and crafted product. I have used these pants for multiple day hikes, paragliding, and everyday wear. Many little details in these pants including zippers for every pocket, velcro adjustable waist band, and the lack of a snap button makes up the pros I have found with these pants. Initially I was not a fan of how thin these pants were. However, I have now seen the strength of the material, and have changed my opinion on this. I would recommend these pants for all summer, spring, and early fall activities.

Not quite as good as the old version

I love the Runbold hiking pants. They're my very favorite pants for backpacking trips, and even more so for climbing. They're stretchy and comfortable, with great materials. The Runbold pants are particularly good for tall skinny people. They're a very tight cut, so you'll be showing off those calves and quads - not necessarily everyone's cup of tea, but great if you're slim. This newer version of the pants has changed from just belt loops and a tight waist fit to adjustable velcro-and-elastic closure. Personally I don't like the velcro, although it is functional - there's too much of a chance of it catching on and doing damage to wool shirts. Still, they're great hiking pants, but I hope Mammut goes back to the old belt-loop style.

Comfortable and durable

The fabric on this pant is comfortable and lightweight, and remarkably durable. They dry very quickly, and use on rock has yet to cause any tears. I've used them over a fleece pant as a durable quick-drying outer layer and it works great for that as well. The downsides are that the swishing is somewhat noisy, and over time the waist has loosened just enough that they don't sit fully on my hips anymore. I am 6'1" and 150 lbs, and I normally wear 30x34 and I liked the fit of these very much when new.

I wear several generations of these pants, not yet retiring any. I wear them daily, year round (with long underwear in winter) for casual wear, working outside and camping /hiking. They are comfortable with room to move and additional stretch, durable and dry quickly. My oldest pair have a definite outdoor attributes. while now they are fundamentally pants with generous zippered pockets. My newest pair adds in a waist cinching feature. Very good value for the cost.

So light and comfortable

I wasn't sure what to expect when getting these pants, I love mammut products but each time I try something new I take everything with a grain of salt. When I got these in I did not realize how thin, light, and breathable they would be! I have been able to wear them in the heat and in the mild chill of around 40° and been quite comfortable all around. They don't let in too much wind, nor do they hold in too much heat where I feel like I'm overheating in the sun.

Comfortable, Light, Stretchy

I got these pants for climbing. They are perfect for summer late afternoons/evenings as they are very light but also protect my legs from bugs. They stretch with you so when you are stretching your leg up for any move, you're not getting pulled back. There are zippered pockets, so if you forget to take something out of your pocket before a climb, there's no fear of it falling out. These pants run long. I ordered a size 30 and the length was about 36 or more. I contacted Mammut and they confirmed that getting them tailored will not affect its construction, material or performance. So keep in mind that unless you have really long legs, these will have to be rolled up or tailored. Overall I absolutely recommend these pants for any outdoor activities. If you can't wear shorts but it's really warm outside, these are perfect.

Comfortable and functional

I purchased these pants mainly because they come in a long inseam. At 220 lbs and 6'4" it is difficult to find trousers that fit properly. These exceed my expectation. They are just the proper amount of stretch while maintaining a nice appearance. I read another review which recommended buying one size up unless you want a tight fit, and I'm glad I did. Buying a size 38 waist instead of 36 makes them fit perfectly for my taste.

Great fit and breathability

The athletic fit and breathability of these pants are next to none. US34 long fits 34" inseam and 32-34" waist line perfectly. They are pretty fine from a fabric perspective and do have the risk of tearing on sharp rocks etc but that is a trade off for the breathability and lightweight design. I would definitely recommend these to those who hike in the shoulder season where you are not quite ready for shorts yet.

Great Fit

Love the Fit, the Length, and the material. Got these for rock climbing, but they looks great for work or anything else outdoors as well. all zippers and pockets are well made. true size, I am a 30-32, went with a 32 to stay safe, I would recommend this product for anything outdoors, or even to just have a pair of functional pants. will definitely be buying more mammut products in the future.
