Love this sandal but 3 stars for the moment
Let me say at the start, I ordered from REI and I love this sandal. It 100% fixed my problem of losing the nail on my 2nd toe on backpacking trips. My only complaint is that the velcro overlap across the toes is inadequate. I only get about 1/4 - 1/2 inch of velcro connection across the toes which resulted in frequent stops to reattach the front strap. I "solved" this by taking the sandals to a cobbler who stitched the front strap layers together through the velcro to prevent it from detaching. It solved the problem of the strap constantly coming loose but now I can't unstrap it if I ever need to (and I hope I never need to). If Teva ever addresses this problem, I'll change my rating to five stars, I just feel it's a big enough problem out of the box to warrant the downgrade.
Very close
Love the sandal but inadequate velcro engagement across toes. Had to have the straps sewn together at a cobbler to keep it from regularly detaching. If Teva improves the design, I'll give it five stars.
Aventrail sandals
Very comfortable, easy to put on, nice cushion and feel. Like these for summer running
Very comfortable sandals!
These sandals are very comfortable and don’t irritate my bone spur at all. They do run large. I could have gone down another 1/2 size.
Very good sandals
Extremely comfortable right out of the box. Well cushioned. Front toe strap could be more adjustable. Runs a little large.
Great for light hiking
My left knee has declared no more running for me, but my wife and I love to take day hikes. While I have several pairs of both Chaco and Teva, I have been hesitant to try hiking in them, as the strapping tends to eat into my foot on any tough trail. The mesh top on these makes them more like a well-ventilated shoe, providing a lining between my foot and the straps. I used them for a couple of easy strolls, and they were quite comfortable. So I decided to put them to the test. My wife and I spent two days hiking up to the falls along the North Umpqua River. Trails were out and back, ranging from 1/2 to just over 1 mile each way, slight slope to steep, maintained and smooth to gnarly, rocky and cut up. The Aventrails were troopers: They provided great support and stability even under the worst trail conditions. The soles kept a good grip on the trail, while the sandal comfortably held my foot. The slight rim around the footbed meant no banged toes, although like most sandals they could collect a bit of sand. As it was hot out, my feet appreciated the open, airy design. And upon return I could simply waltz right into the creek bed to cool off. Overall, sterling.
