Quality Has Declined - No Longer Recommend
I needed to replace a 10-year-old pair of my beloved Chaco Flips, so I didn't even look at alternatives. I should have, as the current Chaco Flip is a shadow of its former self given a dramatic decline in quality. First, the Vibram sole is no more. The new sole is thin, overly flexible, lacks footbed concavity, and feels cheap. The weight of my well-worn pair is 266g vs. 213g for the new pair, reflecting the loss of roughly 20% of sole material. Second, the arch is far less supportive than in previous models — a key decision factor for me. Third, the previous strap was 37mm wide and made of leather, while the new strap is just 24mm wide and made of cheap nylon webbing. Finally, there is a tag sewn into the strap that defies removal and irritates the foot. As a former loyal Chaco owner with many pairs of their sandals, I do not recommend this degraded product. If you want a quality flip sandal, there are far better options.
