Super high quality boots. Love the soles. They cup the ankle so well that I didn't even get blisters the first time I wore them. Also about a pound lighter than many other boots—but somehow still pretty sturdy! Leaving this review because I see other people haven't left reviews yet and I want REI to continue to stock it well into the future.

I’m watching the soles smooth out on my current pair of these before ordering my third or fourth pair. They are perfect: light, comfortable, durable. It’s a shame that they can’t be adequately resoled, but they are so kind to the feet that even a pair a year would be acceptable.

I’m old school - I love leather boots. These are very well made, lightweight and comfortable with good ankle support and traction. I haven’t used them in extremely wet conditions yet, but I expect they would be quite waterproof. I have never had a blister with them. I highly recommend them for day hiking. I have not used mine for backpacking, but I think they could be used for that if the backpack was not extremely heavy.

At our local REI I tried-on several boots from Merrell, Danner, and Oboz. None of them prevented my foot from sliding forward and smashing toes. After this experience, I expected to eventually buy boots a half-size or full-size larger than my running shoes. REI only sells Zamberlan Men's 320 Trail Lite EVO GTX Hiking Boots online (not in stores). I ordered a pair knowing they could be easily returned if the fit was wrong. They are the same size as my Brooks running shoes, not larger for toe protection. I was shocked(!) at how well these boots fit, as well as the overall comfort level. My toes do not get smashed when hiking downhill. The heel and ankle supports firmly hold my feet without grabbing too tightly. The sole is both tough and flexible, with good lugs for grip. Most of my hikes are around 10 miles and these boots are perfect for that distance. I carry a light pack and water. I can't recommend these boots more highly. They're fantastic!
