I was really surprised at how warm this jacket is for it's weight and size. Took it out for a 15 to 20 minute walk at night with periodic chats of wind wearing just a long sleeper T and I was comfortable. The sides of the hood at the top of the zipper flare out a bit which is excellent for blocking side gusts of wind from being able to blow past the sides of your face. This piece is the smaller brother to the bigger PRO version and you would think they would be replicas of each other but this jacket is different from the PRO. First difference is the hood. You have a interior lined hood on the PRO....same one pull adjustment on both. BOTH zipper up nicely although I prefer the way this jacket zips ALL the way up compared to the PRO which is really a thicker version of this jacket designed for belaying. This jacket has NO interior mesh pocket or zippered pocket which in my opinion is a bit of a let down. It's such a nice jacket it's a shame you don't get a interior or exterior Napoleon pocket. Pockets on this are also raised to sit above the harness belt where the belay version Ed PRO's pockets sit lower. So if you prefer higher pockets you will want this jacket. Hem length is also shorter on this jacket with the PRO being a bit longer for better coverage of your lower back. Both have drawcords at each sides of the hem. Which makes adjustment easy. This jacket also has a mix of 850 down with synthetic fill for a really windproof and toasty jacket. I love the look, fit and feel. Your getting Mammut quality and style. If your looking for a slightly shorter alpine style down jacket this is really nice. Would love to see more colors ... If your looking for a slightly burlier version of this and can live with hand pocket below the harness belt than get the beefier PRO version.
