Definitely a fantastic jacket for the right use. If you are looking for a great, slim fit, lightweight, warm, and incredibly soft jacket with a hood, this one does it. The fact that it is 800 ProDown is already enough for me to separate this jacket to the other 800 fill down equivalents in other brands. ProDown is great if you expect to run into light moisture either from sweating inside, or mist/light rain outside. This down will stay lofted and keep you warm even when lightly wet. That said, I will and have been pairing this jacket with a hard shell on top 75% of the time, especially in the backcountry. The other 25% of the time is when I am using it to run errands in the city or around the town, with limited chance of coming into contact with sharp edges or items, then I will use this without a shell. In addition to the 800 ProDown, the pockets on this jacket really make it worth it. 2 front hand pockets, 1 exterior chest pocket, 2 large interior dump mesh pockets (one on each side), and 2 more large interior dump - non mesh pockets (one on each side). In total, this jacket has 7 pockets, wow!! Definitely designed for more technical uses. Some cons: I do wish this jacket was a little more durable on the outside, as the outside material seems to be the exact same as the interior, extremely soft. But that softness doesn't help me much since it is on the outside... I would just prefer a strong nylon material instead, even if it adds weight. I wish TNF would go back to their logos and added information on their products being stitched, rather than plastered on. If you want to use a dryer to dry this, which is fine and ideal, after air drying, do NOT put on high heat. Either only use low heat or no heat at all to fluff this up, otherwise you run the high risk of the TNF, summit series, and 800PRO logos fall off. Stitched logos would allow high heat dryer settings. Overall: This jacket was all I was missing to complete my full summit series upper body collection. And if taken care of properly, I believe this will last me a long time, even given the few cons.
