Not durable

I have a love hate relationship with this coat. The fit is perfect and it's super comfortable. It's the most comfortable and versatile coat I've owned. The negative side is that the exterior fabric is as fragile as a sheet of paper. I hang a tree, it tears. I fall on the ice while playing hockey, it tears. My dog jumps on me, it tears up. I also have an Atom and this one is more durable. I don’t understand it suppose to be a super tough product. Maybe, I git a lemon.

Great jacket that falls between old AR and LT

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second Proton jacket. I owned a Proton AR from 2017 which was amazing. So breathable and warm and light. The only problem was I gained weight and it no longer fit. After owning it for 5 years I sold it on, but it was still in flawless condition. This new proton fits great in the large size, and is nearly as warm as the older AR. This is easily my most worn jacket and I’ve always got it with me in a backpack as it weighs less than a hoody. Definitely recommend.

Favorite jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After using this hoody non stop for about a month I’m happy to report it as being my favorite all around jacket for around Southern California. I’m 5’9” 195 lbs and the Large fits well and is warm without feeling bulky. The temperature range is huge comfortable in sweater weather down to decently cold and goes well with a mid layer. A recent trip to the Sierras with the temperatures ranging from highs from 45-50 and lows from 25-35 this fit well with a base and mid layer, and was great to climb in. I stayed warm without over heating, the jacket was non cumbersome and the hood fit well over a helmet. Overall, I’d recommend highly.

Let Down Hard

Let me start off with the good. This and my older atom hoody are the most comfortable jackets that I've ever worn. I love the warmth that it provides as well as the fact that it's water resistant. I thought that it was going to be my all time favorite jacket, but the durability of it is a huge disappointment. It got caught in between my chair while sitting down at work and now there is a hole in it. I'm going to stitch it up and keep wearing it. Just be advised, I don't think that this jacket will hold up to the outdoors.

My most used insulated jacket

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I originally bought this jacket for climbing. It has quickly become my most worn piece. It's a great weight for Fall, Spring, and Winter. Works as a standalone jacket or with a shell. Has kept me warm from 10°C down to -20°C (with base layers and a shell). It's a solid Swiss Army knife. The materials have proven to be fairly durable (against rock/ice). The only downside is some pilling near the top of the zipper that was created by my beard. The synthetic insulation doesn't pack small like down but it has kept me warm in wet weather. I would recommend this jacket to anyone who is looking for a lightly insulated jacket that is more durable than the Atom.

Great old-school but modern jacket.

Perfect balance between insulation, wind resistance and breathability. That is a rare quality you don't see often in active insulation. Also this is the best hoodie today on the market. Use: Climbing, bouldering, general use. Durability: 9/10 Construction: 9/10 Design: Old version 10/10. New version 8/10. Performance: 9/10 Be aware!: You are better off getting a fleece+shell combo for hiking, this is awesome but mostly when you cannot change layers (i.e. any activity with a helmet mostly) This is the classic softshell Andy Kirkpatrick talks about (and the FL, depends on how hot/cold you run) as well as the perfect modern active insulation layer, a real bad boy.

Amazing jacket for an active person.

if you are an active person in a cold weather, then this jacket is for you. if you hiking in a cold weather when temperature between 40F-50F degrees, you should be fine with breathable base layer underneath it. 20F-30F just trow a really nice fleece underneath and you will be fine. I don't recommend using this jacket as a stand alone jacket in a cold windy day, put a shell jacket on top it. super breathable, crazy lightweight, and amazing jacket overall

Go to jacket

Go to jacket. Like the jacket more than I thought. Really like the light insulation. Don’t need full gorex jacket. Just something that can handle drizzle and dries quickly once inside. I found out I can wear a lighter jacket inside this. Temps in the 30s so far. Pacific Northwest climate. I hope the zipper doesn’t open or go off track like other archteryx jackets. That is annoying.

Poor quality

I bought this jacket only 3 weeks and our son only wore this week. And we washed as the labels shows, then the logo has already been damaged as per the photo I attached. I am not going to trust this quality and would like to return this one even though we bought some this winter for our families. Feeling a little bit of sad to this item. Sorry for that!

Ole' Faithful

Bought a few years ago, have been using it every fall/winter since then. The jacket is warm during chilly mornings yet breathable as the weather warms up. It is my favourite jacket by far. It is comfortable from -5C to 15C with a t-shirt, I wear it up to -15C with a sweater; great product. I also love that Arcteryx fits my tall build, every product fits me well. I think the neck piece could be improved, sometimes I find it scratchy and it irritates my neck; I feel this could just be me though.
