Boot is good but lacing system is weak.

I bought a pair of these for each of my sons. I love Keen hiking boots and they were finally old enough for some of their own. The actual boots themselves are very sturdy but the lacing system is terrible. We are on our 4th set of laces for one of the pairs in just a couple months. The laces are stretchy cord that just can't hold up to the metal hooks on the tops of the boots. The metal is sharp and bends SUPER easily which rubs the laces until it cuts through. I wanted to like these but I would definitely not buy them again.

Fantastic wide kids shoe

My 5 year old has wide feet and shopping for shoes especially boots is tough but keens consistently has a comfortable fit for him. These shoes In particular are super sturdy and roomy once it is on, getting his foot in each boot it seems like the opening is a weeeee bit small but again once his foot is in there it's super comfortable for him. The flex part is ok, I wish it were a bit more flexible, maybe because the soul is so sturdy it doesn't bend as much as I imagined.

Extremely disappointed

The opening was way too small for my kid to fit his foot into, the added strap makes the opening smaller overall. Also the lace "teeth" (like where you hook the laces through while lacing them up) are large so my kid would get his laced tangled up and fall constantly and eventually started coming apart after about 3 months.. We usually exclusively but him Keen's because we of his wide feet but what's the point of having a wide shoe is you can't get your foot into it?

Hard to put on

I have worn Keens almost exclusively for several years now and find them to be comfortable and well fitting for me. However, it was very difficult to put on these boots. The opening is too small. It took a lot of work to get them on but once I did they fit fine. I really liked them so I tried stretching them but it did not solve the problem. I have not had this issue with any of my other Keens.

Too hard

I have to say that the boots look amazing, sturdy and really good quality. They have perfect shape of the toe-box - more straight around the big toe and they are quite wide, which allows for free movement of toes inside the boots and therefore safer and healthier movement in terrain. They are not zero-drop but they are very close to it, which is another parameter I look for when buying shoes. My child is used to barefoot and these looked like a good compromise for winter. Unfortunately, we are returning them as according to my child: “they are too tight and uncomfortable around ankles and too hard for walking.” The second point is probably not that relevant to most people as it would not bother anyone who is used to normal shoes. Her feet are just used to very flexibile and very light shoes. Saying that, the weight of these boots is surprisingly low. I am actually sorry that they are not liked.

Stretchable shoelace broke after wearing the boots only few times

My 6year old son used these boot perhaps only 4 times. The feel and looks great. But one of the shoelaces broke after he pulled on them bit too much. I believe these shoelaces should be stronger so that no kid (less 10 ? years) should be able to break them. I now find it hard to find good shoelaces to replace the broken one.

Ridge Flex piece uncomfortable

The boot was a challenge to get on, but once it was on there was plenty of room for my son's extra wide feet. The boots feel sturdy and well made. However, he did not like the way the ridge flex piece pushed down on his foot when he walked in them. The placement of it felt awkward and too low.

Ready for anything

We got these boots for both of our kids after they trashed a few pairs of running shoes out on hikes. These are so sturdy, and must be quite comfortable because both of our kids now want to wear them all the time! Our daughter calls them her stompin boots.

Great boots

My ten-year-old daughter just wore these for five days of hiking and field work at Olympic National Park and reported that they were comfortable and her feet stayed dry—no small feat in a temperate rain forest. I would definitely recommend these boots.

Do not buy

These shoes were purchased in mid October. About 1 month later the entire sole separated from the shoe. Every pair of keen shoes I’ve owned do the same thing. Soles peel away from the shoe after a couple months of use. Over priced garbage!
