Altra’s unique FootShape™ toe box and zero to low shoes are built to place your foot in a natural position, with a stable and confident foundation to run on. When fitting, be sure to allow a full thumb’s width in front of your toes. If your feet are used to cramped toe boxes, Altra shoes may feel a little big at first. Give your toes some time to get used to the newfound wiggle room.
Altra offers a range of FootShape fits:
Original Fit: The fit that started it all, Original is the roomiest of the 3 options from Altra.
Standard Fit: The most common fit from Altra is right in the middle of Original and Slim.
Slim Fit: The slimmest-fitting Altra option still allows room for your toes to spread out naturally.

My husband is hiking the Appalachian trail. Only will hike in Altra Lone peaks. I ordered a pair and REI shipped them to a hostel on the way for him to pick up. Great service and the got there in plenty of time!
Personally I love the fun colors. I’m over the too hot for Southern California black and just another hiking shoe tan. Keep em coming. Rolled ankles? Sounds like another problem to me. I do wish they had a little more grip in damp environments, ie slick rocks. I still prefer the metal loop for my gaiters and I still don’t understand why they don’t offer the Lone Peaks with a vibram sole like the other models. Otherwise still my favorite hiking shoe for the last 12yrs
I've been wearing lone peaks for a while and have been really happy with them. But this one is very uncomfortable. My heels on both feet are naturally landing on the inside of the shoe and rolling with every step as a result. There is a hard plastic bit on the exterior (inside heel) which doesn't seem to be helping. In the past, my heels comfortably landed in the center of the shoe. I don't know what changed but it makes these shoes unwearable.
Altra is the answer to a comfortable zero drop shoe with room for toes. Buying several pairs.
Same great shoe design; another design so ugly I won't buy it. Lone Peak 7 in simple black, please. I wear these as work shoes. Your colors are obnoxious.
Great fit and very comfortable. They have only been worn for everyday use at this time. Looking forward to using them while hiking. Love the color.
Comfortable for long walk with good grip on course.
Had the lone peak 5 rolled my ankle 4 minutes into arches in Moab hike and is an easy hike as well Switched to brooks 🙏🏼
