My spouse has sensitive feet and recommended the Danner trail hikers. I was hesitant to go with the GTX due to negative reviews, yet like their sleek style so thought I'd give them a try and glad I did! Yes, they were tight at first, so I wore them inside with varied thickness socks for about a week. At first, I thought they'd be too snug but they stretched out, seemingly forming to my feet. They are now my favorite hikers which I'll be wearing on a Camino De Santiago trip this spring. I am a true size 9, medium width. I also wear Merrell and Dansko hikers.
Terrific earthy colors, but the narrow toe box was a no go. I tried loosening the laces as much as I could, but my foot still felt uncomfortable, wedged in, and it made the laces barely tie. I thought about going a size up, but then I figured my foot would be slipping all over the place. Disappointed, because the colors are lovely.
I failed to read the reviews because my Danner hiking boots fit well. These hiking shoes are a huge disappointment because they only fit a narrow foot. It is mismatched as a medium width. Disappointedly there are no W options. Returning
I was excited to try a pair of Danner's for my narrow feet but there was zero arch support. I felt like my ankles were collapsed in just standing still and ended up returning them.
My wife bought these. She has slightly wide feet. The non gore-tex version fit but these were a little tight. It’s a shame because they are a great looking shoe.
