These shoes are well designed. Rather than an ordeal to put on, they designed for easy access and egress, all the while keeping your foot as secure as wedge in a stump. Simple to tighten, flexible, light weight but with good float and grip. I was able to climb steep terrane as well as float on level ground. I can't believe these are being discontinued. Versatile. The free heel makes fast movement simple, or if you like, cramp it down. Buying a second pair for my wife.
My husband and I have been snowshoeing/winter hiking for many years and have used many different kinds of snowshoes from varied Tubbs to MSR Lightnings. As we’ve gotten older, it’s become a bit harder to deal with the bindings on each of these. We decided to try the Tubbs Flex RDG shoes and we not at all prepared for how much we would love them. The BOA binding system is a game changer! It’s so easy to adjust them for any of our boots and they stay on firmly. Also, and this was a big surprise, they seem to work more naturally with our gait, with less stress on the calves. The crampons are perfect for all of our needs, including any mountaineering that we may undertake. I would recommend this product without hesitation!
Have only used these once due to snow drought in WI but they seemed to work well. I especially like the BOA binding like that on bike shoes and helmets. Have some concern of abrasion on the binding cuff where it covers the top of your boot laces.
First time out in these was on mostly flat terrain with only five inches of new light snow but they worked well. The bindings are easy to use with gloves and were secure. The binding toe piece didn't mold closely to my boot - there were noticable gaps - but perhaps they will over time. I could tell the plastic bases will be loud on hard snow but that goes with the style. I look forward to testing these next on more varied and rugged terrain.
These snowshoes are amazing. The BOA system makes for such easy entry and exit and a comfortable and secure fit. Love the heel bars for hills and they hold on slippery surface really well. Seems sturdy and well made! Makes snowshoeing so pleasurable!
