REI is the best! Ordered on Tuesday, delivered on Wednesday. Incredible. Really like this watch so far. Has all the features I need for running and tracking body battery/ recovery. This is my first Garmin so getting used to the screens and buttons but think it will be much better for training than my Apple Watch (had for 5 years).

Description was possibly misleading

I just received the Forerunner 165 by mail. Disappointed. I am unable to charge it. Althought the description says it comes with a USB cable, the cable I received is oval with pins. I thought USB plugs were rectangular. I didn't realize I need to purchase an additional charging cable or proprietary charging block. I will return it.

Garmin Forerunner 165

For a person that actually has 4 Garmin watches a Garmin Navigator for my motorcycle and one for my police unit, I feel I am somewhat qualified to review my new Garmin watch. I love the Amoled screen on the new forerunner it is so much better than that on my 735XT or 945. The 165 hooks up to the satellite so quickly it amazes me. I love the color of the band, I think just the use of the functions makes it easier to use than my other brands that I have.

Finally! A Runner’s Watch

I’ve been using a Fitbit to time / track my runs. It’s been “ok”. But it’s clumsy to start and stop and offers limited real time data during the run. After some research, I purchased a Garmin Forerunner 165. What a difference! I had no idea! I was a little concerned that the new Garmin would not be as comfortable as the Fitbit for full time wear. But, I am very pleased to say that it is just as comfortable despite its larger size compared to the Fitbit tracker. The Garmin is far better on all counts: features, real time run tracking, ease of use, GPS acquisition, sleep tracking, connection to other apps (e.g. Strava, Charity Miles, etc). I am in love with the Forerunner. Thanks. Garmin!

Great Watch for the Price Point

So far the watch has met all my expectations. Very bright screen and light on the wrist. Excellent watch for the beginner to intermediate runner.

Awesome watch

Keeping in mind it is entry level, it has cover all my needs. Even going beyond as a new runner. Good battery life (about a week in gesture mode, with notifications active and following training plans of 4 days a week using gps), light and the amoled screen is mind blowing compare with other models. Nap detection can be improve, not always recognizing when napping. Totally recommend buying it

Wrist-worn Magic!

This is my 3rd Garmin watch. My first was a 2005 Forerunner. Then a Foenix 5. My new Forerunner is in charge. I have great faith that, that’s to the coaching I’m receiving, I WILL get back in shape…

Not Complicated and Easy to Read

As a 70+ person, the learning curve for this watch was easy. I appreciate the heart information it gives me, and I can view time, temp, and weather quickly. Receiving text messages while away from my phone keeps me connected. The step component has made my more aware and now I meet the goal 90% of the time. Only downside for me, is that no matter what I do, the watch always says my sleep quality is poor, I think because I don't get much deep sleep. I checked it out and found that people over 65 don't necessarily get a lot of deep sleep. The watch does a great job of breaking down sleep analysis. I'm not a runner so nothing to review there.

i love data, and this gives me everything. battery life is long! but i get still get freaked out when the battery level hits 50%, i have to keep reminding myself that i still have days of life left, (my previous watch was from a company named of a certain type of fruit). How is this an entry level watch? I still have functions i havens discovered yet. and all the reviews stated that the gps is not the best..... I'm running ! not sending military precision ordinances. Garmin has better watches... what do they do that the 165 can't? just asking this is a review from a reluctant garmin buyer, thought the fruit named company watch is all i needed.

Great Running Watch!

Have had it for almost 2 months and even took it to visit family in El Salvador so it went on SEVERAL long hikes and excursions with me in rough jungle terrain- held up EXTREMELY well. Only charged it once on the entire 2 week trip and was able to get data for stress levels and sleep as well as recommendations for training on high stress/low stress days etc. Currently using the Garmin app Half marathon training plan to get ready for my first half marathon and can already see improvements in my runs. The watch automatically gives you the option to do the suggested exercise for the day or choose your own. So excited to use on race day!

Great watch, great feel!

It was finally time for me to upgrade to a watch with better technology, tracking, functions, etc. I had forever worn a tracker that starts with fit and ends with bit. I always liked that it was small and I didn’t really feel it on my wrist. So when I started looking into the Forerunner 165 I just thought “it looks huge! I’m going to hate it!” I could NOT have been more wrong! Is it bigger- of course. But it is SO light and SO comfortable. I notice it less than my old fitness tracker. The screen size is just right for the information it needs to display. Could not be happier I took the leap and purchased this watch!
