If You Hike, You Need These
I love these UL mitts! I got them for thruhiking on the CDT and they were a game changer when it rained. I could fit my fleece gloves underneath for extra warmth as well. Pretty durable material for how thin they are. I put them through heavy use for 1,800 miles and only got 1 small hole, which was easy to patch with tenacious tape. Highly recommend!!! It would nice if they offered them in black, since they can get dirty easily.
Great insulative layer, for variable conditions
So far so good. Getting ready for El Camino, doing weekend walks of 10-15 miles, so my wife and I are outside for long periods in varying weather. I have no reason to believe these aren't waterproof - you can feel the rubbery texture, but the weather hasn't tested me on this yet. They_have_proven to be a significant insulative layer in addition to some lightweight Army surplus wool liner gloves I wear to keep off the light cold. Wore wool + these overmitts today in 23 degree weather that felt like 10 - and they were just great - no chill. Also, the grip dots are good - provide genuine gripping ability.
Black Diamon Understands: Perfectly Fills a Needed Niche
I searched high and low for a pair of very light "overmitts" for mountain running. During long runs with changing weather conditions, the ability to carry windproof overmitts (these pack extremely small and can easily fit into a running shorts pocket or hydration belt) can be the difference between bitterly cold fingers and a comfortable run. I often run with merino wool finger gloves, and these Black Diamond overmitts are perfect for putting on over my gloves when the weather gets especially cold/windy/wet, like at the higher elevations on longer runs. I was astonished that there were so few products available to fill this niche. These are the hands equivalent of a packable windproof shell, which is practically standard issue when it comes to jackets, but overlooked when it comes to hands? Black Diamond apparently understands the needs of customers who are pushing limits. Black Diamond is on my radar now as a go-to supplier for quality gear.
The sizing is slightly off
I haven't tested these out yet. They seem like good quality and are certainly light weight. The only issue I have is the size. I purchased a Large according to their size Chart and they are slightly small. I would repurchase an XL but they are now out of stock and it doesn't seem like they will be replenishing the sold out inventory.
Worthy Piece of Outdoor Gear
Worn during walks and runs, in the rain and most recently in snow. Paired with a lightweight pair of BD gloves, they proven to be a crucial piece of gear that'll keep you comfortable. Bonus for the packability, which can easily be shoved into anything from a lightweight running belt, to your jacket pockets.
Nice and warm
I had been looking for a pair of mittens to go over my gloves for running on cold days. These work perfectly, keep my hands warm and they are actually breathable too.
Perfect
I just needed a lightweight windproof mitten to keep my hands from freezing during sub-zero runs. These with mid-weight running gloves underneath do the trick!
Light weight
Haven’t tested in rain yet but seem like quaint build and very light weight and packable. Will use for all my outdoor activities!
Insurance for the wet and cold
These pack down super small, but when you need them, they'll keep your hands warm on those cold, wet days outside.
Waterproof overmitts
Light weight perfect for keeping fleece mittens dry in the rain
