Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Running pants that don’t suck
I have hated running in pants for as long as I’ve been running. These fit great and are comfortable as heck. I have shorter above average sized legs. I struggle with joggers fitting on my calves especially. These were able to fit below my calves fine and there is enough stretch to allow me to pull them up over or let them ride on my calves without discomfort.
Great anytime, anywhere pants
These are some of my favorite pants that i own. Extremely utilitarian with all the secure pockets. The fit is great, snug, but not too tight. No unsightly bulges, even when worn over shorts if I'm running to yoga and need to keep my legs warm. They're my go-to pants for running or errands or work around the house (really anything you can think of), to the point where i would throw everything else in the donate bin if i could get my hands on more, but REI seems to be discontinuing them for some insane reason. These may very well be the best pants they have ever sold and they're just walking away. If you're an XL, XXL or a S, then snap them up. The rest of us are SOL.
BUY THESE PANTS
Just received these pants yesterday and after trying them on initially for fit, I didn’t take them off. I bought these pants due to already having a pair of the previous generation of Swiftland Running pants. As companies “improve” preexisting products and come out with new generation of these items, I am always skeptical to try to updated versions due to my love for the previous ones. However, REI got this one right. Very similar to my other pair. High quality pants for getting moving outside in the cooler months. So comfortable. These pants are perfect for the morning walk with my pup Charlie, or the afternoon trail run on the Carolina Thread Trail. Highly recommend splurging and getting these pants.
Great for women too
I bought these pants because I don't like leggings and I need pockets. These fit both requirements. There are multiple pockets, and 2 big enough for a phone and close with a zipper. My phone didn't get wet. They kept me warm while running in Chicago and dry enough while hiking in Portland. They are super comfortable and breath very well. I appreciate that despite being curvy, they fit over my hips and aren't tight. I also bought the women's version of the Swiftland pants, but find that I prefer the mens version just a little bit more.
Great light running, lounging and WFH pants
Great material, quality construction. I love that they make tall sizes which makes a perfect fit for me (6'1" male, 200lb = Large Tall). They have a just a bit of polish to elevate them over your average fleece / sweatpants. My only note is the zippers: Two zipper pockets is great but they zip the wrong way in my opinion. When zipped is closed (which is all the time) they zipper tab is down - every time you reach your hand into your pockets it pulls against the zipper tab. On every other zipper on any pants or jacket, the zipper zips UP, so it it out of the way. Not a dealbreaker, but a flaw in an otherwise great item.
Best running pants ever for all time
Absolutely perfect. literally. Not possible to improve them. I zero durability issues. Bought the first pair on sale out of curiosity. Got 5 pairs now. I wear all winter from 2 miles to 20. almost every day. Fit is perfect, not tights, but not baggy at all. The pockets are absolute genius. Iphone max with a card case in the zipper pocket fits exactly perfectly. Positioned in line with the hip so there is no bouncing. Gloves, hat, neck gaiter, i can comfortably fit them all in the pockets as I warm up. could keep going but ill stop. just get em
The only pants I wear as a PE teacher
As an elementary school PE teacher, these are the only pants I wear. The zippered pockets let me store whatever I need. The other pockets are deep enough that things don't follow out even when I'm sitting on the ground with my class. They aren't overly thin and revealing like most joggers. The wide elastic band is comfortable and keeps them in position when I get on and off the floor. As an added bonus as a bike commuter the snug ankle fits keeps the pants out of my chain. Honestly, I never thought I would have a strong opinion about pants, but I love these so much I had to leave a review. (The only thing I would change is the gusset should be the same color as the rest of the pants on all the colors.)
My favorite pants in years
Got these for a trip to Washington for general use and hiking. They’ve quickly become my favorite pants even for day-to-day use, and I’ve just ordered two more pairs before they go out of stock. I wore them during a three-day fishing trip this past weekend and they were so comfortable even in the unrelenting Texas sun; these pants just do it all. They look great, too.
Trust me on this go to REI store & buy these pants
These are amazing pants and of exceptional quality.(I think REI has been using the same supply chain like Patagonia from Vietnam) These are great multipurpose pants that look good hiking, traveling and lounging, working out etc.. I used this in high wind conditions on my New Mexico trip and barely felt anything. Pair this with a woolen base layer below 30 degrees and you will be toasty and comfy! I don't understand why people dock points for these pants running small.(you can easily do an exchange at REI) I also used this on flight and boy was it comfortable. I also own a lot of stuff from Lulu and the pants start pilling after a year or two of using/washing. I don't think it will be a problem with this fabric but seriously these pants are a bargain for $90. I love owning comfortable joggers and this is up there in the top 5!
Best Multi-use pant
Bought these pants to use for in the gym/everyday pant but now they’re my go to Mountain Biking pant now. They have enough space to fit my knee pads. The water resistant material has always been okay (definitely not anything to be impressed by). The XL fits perfectly if you’re a 38” waist. Also I saw a review stating the material is weak… I’ve buzzed my rear tire multiple times on my butt and have taken a few spills in them in the PNW dirt and they continue to be as good as new! I would absolutely love a rendition of these with gore-tex or DWR!
