Better for warmth and comfort than other pairs
I live in the Chicago area, and I'm always looking for warm socks for winter. I purchased four different styles of socks from this company, including ones that ""should"" be warmer (names with ""hunt"" and ""outdoors"" in them), but this pair was the best of the four. The other pairs made my feet colder instead of warmer! Even though I got the largest woman's size socks (I wear around 9-10 shoe) and have an average calf size, the other pairs were way too tight and annoying. This pair is perfect. I don't think it's worth my time to return the other pairs, but I would not order those again. I will be ordering this particular pair again, though, for warmth and comfort.
Comfy and Breathable
If I am leaving a review for socks . . . that says something! Cute 'show your socks' design for wear with boots, clogs, etc. These really are great for every day wear because very comfy, just a hint of cushion, and breathable. For sizing: I wear 7.5-8 and purchased the M (size chart seems accurate).
Cute Dress socks
Fits like a dress sock thin and tight
Not full cushion as advertised!
These socks are soft and beautiful, but full cushion they are not! Compared to other casual socks marked as full cushion these are thin all over, with no real cushion, and even thinner in the heels and toes where they wear the most. I swapped for the ""best friend"" socks that actually are nice and cushy throughout. I think this is more of a problem with labeling than with the socks. These should be marked light or no cushion, in which case people who like that can buy them and I would have known not to. Sad because they are so cute!
These are the greatest socks ever for lounging!!!
These socks are fantastic when putting my feet up after a workout or at the end of a long day. . . or when the house is too cold. . . etc. — I love the way they hug my feet! HOWEVER. . . my daughter (who also loves them to death, and whose size seems to fall in the cracks) found that after a wash they were a little too snug for comfort. I bought a couple pair in L for her and that made all the difference. We are both now THRILLED with our 'TV socks'!
Very interesting sock - I like it
Very interesting almost waffle weave that allows a lot of air circulation and feels very nice underfoot and quite different than the usual tight weave of other smart wool socks. I was initially worried that it would be too hot for the summer but the weave kept my foot cool and dry all day. Vertical stitched cuff has mild elastic and worked well to keep the sock up. Pattern is cool looking. two thumbs up.
Poor quality, holes after only a few wears
These socks were such a disappointing waste of money. They had holes in the toes after only a couple of wears. They also shrank in the washer, which has not happened with my other Smartwool socks, so the quality seems very poor with this style. It is incredibly frustrating to spend this much on socks and have them fall apart almost immediately. I would not recommend these.
I buy these again and again.
Popcorn socks are the only socks myself, my elderly mother and my 3 young adult daughters wear. We buy new ones every year, and have thrown away anything non-popcorn. They are softer and warmer than any of our previous wool socks. The colors are all so fun and they're thin and breathable enough for every day wear year-round.
Poor quality, started unraveling after one wash
I got these socks for Christmas, and I was SO excited because they are so cute and I love Smartwool socks. They are cozy, and I thought I was going to buy a few more pairs. Unfortunately, they started unraveling after one wash and are not up to the normal Smartwool standards. I would not recommend purchasing these socks.
Comfortable socks, but size up
I purchased a black pair of Everyday Popcorn socks 2 or 3 years ago, and liked them enough to buy agan. I buy only wool socks with no more than 25% nylon fiber content, as more nylon makes them itchy. I wear everyday from mid fall to late spring. I like the Popcorn pattern because it is made with only two colors & one pattern over the entire sock, which means no stitch or color transitions where the ends can work loose and unravel into holes. However I do wish SmartWool would modify their sizing. I wear a size 9 shoe. According to their chart, I should wear a Medium sock. But the heel on a medium sock does not reach my heel. Knowing this, I bought the black ones in a Large. I can pull a L over my heel, but it slips down partway after awhile This time I tried XL. It comes further up my heel, but I can feel the foot is a little big. I'm going to keep the XLs and see how they change over time. Note: I do not wash my wool socks every time I wear them. They last longer that way.
