Bonded beyond inaugural multi-week/modal travel
The Osprey Daylite Duffel exceeded expectations. In preparation for two-week travel, I was seeking a carry-on that could be worn as a backpack or wheeled as I flew, railed, ferried, bused and subwayed to varied stops in the UK and France. With organizational help from packing cubes and occasional hand laundering, this 40L bag enabled me to pack for a distance wedding which required two sets of dress clothes and corresponding shoes, as well as standard travel clothing and two alternate pairs of shoes. I was even able to incorporate small gifts along the way. Given that I also took a small backpack along as my under-seat carry on, which was worn for most day excursions, I never wore the Osprey Daylite as a backpack. Perhaps if the Daylite's wheels hadn't performed so well on all surfaces - from cobblestoned streets to curbs, sidewalks and standard airport/subway terminals - I might have been wearing double packs. Never a problem with zippers or telescoping handle or damage from rough baggage handling. I look forward to future travel when I'm more likely to rely on the Daylite's pack/wheeled versatility.

disappointed
I was looking for a lightweight wheeled duffel that would meet almost any airline's carry-on size restrictions, and I thought this would be it. It claims to have a length of 21.5". But I measured it, and it's actually over 22", therefore longer than most airlines allow. It's a shame because I love how light it is (and it's not a bad looking bag). Also I did not find the handle at all easy to extend and collapse. Instead of pushing a button, you need to squeeze the top and bottom of the handle together, which requires some amount of force since it's very stiff, and then it raises or lowers in a jerky manner, not smoothly. (Maybe I just got a defective one.)

Love! Very Lightweight.

I am so happy with this duffel. It is very easy to manuever. I was amazed how much it can hold. The handle was very easy to extend and collapse. I have a neuro-muscular disorder that at times makes my muscles weak, so this being light-weight was essential to make traveling easy. And it is a pretty color.

disappointed

As another reviewer pointed out, the advertised dimensions are wrong. It is not 21. 5", but over 22", which makes it too big for a carry-on even on most domestic flights, not to mention international ones. I bought it hoping to be able to carry it on almost any airline.

Great Carry On

Love this wheeled duffel. Complements my 85l wheeled duffel. Collapses for easier storage. Can use as backpack also. Straps fold into pocket when not in use. Wheels roll well on streets as well as floors. Very versatile. Highly recommend this bag!

This bag is awesome!

Bought this specifically for my trip to Ireland. i needed something light weight that fit the criteria for a carry-on and could carry enough provisions for a 10 day trip. i also needed to be able to carry it up and down hotel stairs where elevators were not provided. This purchase hit everything on my checklist. i did attach my hiking boots to the outside of the bag as well as my neck roll. This did not propose a problem.

Not for International Carry-On

Nice bag with good build. Measures closer to 22.5 inches. Why isn't the overall length listed in the description? I'm skeptical of the 4.9 lb claim... I think it's closer to 6 lbs. I am returning this bag because it does not meet my needs. I'm new to Osprey, having recently purchased (and liked) the updated 26+6 Daylite pack. But I'm disappointed at the description for this wheeled duffel. I would not have wasted my time purchasing it if the description had been accurate.

Great carry-on bag

Plenty of room for 2-3 night trip, shoulder straps are nice when hustling through an airport.

Unfortunately, the specs are wrong

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unfortunately, the specs are wrong and the bag still measures more than 22 inches. I had purchased the more expensive updated version (after returning the previous discontinued model) because the specs specifically stated 21.5 inches in length and I wanted to be sure it would meet international airline carry-on requirements. A shame—because otherwise the bag would probably have suited my needs. You need to do better, Osprey.

Just okay

I purchased this carry-on wheeled duffel bag back in 2022, and it has held up beautifully. It is excellent quality, that's for sure. I have a couple of issues with the bag though, and it's due to personal preference after several uses. Firstly, I wish there was an option to have wheels on all four corners of the bag. I originally thought I would need to use the backpack function when traveling out of the country, but I haven't used it once. Pulling the bag behind me in the airport is a little cumbersome when compared to the ease of maneuverability to a 4 or 8-wheeled bag that rolls by your side. Secondly, the interior is not as roomy as traditional carry-ons. The metal bars and backpack straps create bulk inside the duffel, making it challenging to pack. I like this duffel and will continue to use it mainly for car trips, but it's not my go-to travel bag when flying.
