BD Guide Gloves
I am very impressed with the overall quality and construction of these gloves. Specifically, the leather palms and hand portion as well as the seams are very high quality. The inner liners are removable, well insulated, and Gore-Tex lined. As a Ski Patroller, I am on-snow in all conditions and these gloves have worked really well in terms of warmth and dexterity. One point for improvement is to add wrist lanyards to the gloves. I frequently have to remove the gloves e.g. to put on protective latex gloves when working with an injured person and not having to worry about dropping them would be a great improvement.
To Guide you into the unknown

Highly recommended!
Great Gloves, 3rd Pair
I’ve had the guide gloves 3 different times over the course of the last 17 years. Always satisfied w the quality, waterproofing and warmth. I find that my hands do get cold (skiing) when temps drop below 20° though. They are rated for colder temps. When this happens I prefer mittens and have a pair of BD ones that do the trick. I’ve found that a pair will last a couple of ski seasons of 45 - 60+ days. I’ve applied the nix wax (always included) usually late in the first season or early in the second. I’ve noticed a couple of “build” changes over the years, for the better. Also, of note: even though the sizing chart recommends I get the medium, I’ve found I need a large. The medium is snug. I’ll sometimes also use a liner, which helps on colder days and the large facilitates that. Good solid gloves that I keep coming back to. Have tried a few different brands and find myself gravitating back to these. Good, well made and does the job.
Spot on
These have been my go to ski gloves for 20+ years, and this recent purchase did not disappoint. The quality and warmth have stayed consistent with the previous versions. I find the "operating range" of temps a bit generous, but I do tend to run a bit cold in my hands and switch to the 3 finger version when the temps are close to zero. I did find the fit a bit smaller than I recalled and perhaps should have gone with the XXL, but that may change once I wear them in a bit. I do find that the outer far outlasts the inner and it would be great to have replacement liners available. . .
2025 Mens Guide Gloves
Just skied the weekend at Sugarloaf Maine - low 20's with 10 to 15 mile an hour winds, first day sunny second day snowing all day. Hands were dry, warm and very comfortable! These are replacement gloves. Had my old Mountain Hardware gloves stolen in Austria. Replaced them with Hestra - GREAT looking but useless for keeping my fingers warm. Decided to try the BD Guides - so far very happy. They are bulky, and run small. I wear a 7.5 surgical glove and I bought the XL Guide. Here's to warm hands!
These are the best gloves I have owned. Rugged and warm.
Great Gloves
I really love these gloves, I’ve used them in the north GA mountains in the winter, on ski slopes and on mountains like Adams and Rainier in the PNW and they always do a great job, very warm and pretty effective at resisting water. The wax they come with is a must and as long as you use it and treat your gloves throughout their life they should work great. I will say the only downside is they are a little bulky, you won’t have much dexterity beyond just grabbing objects but that’s the trade off for warmth. When holding ski poles or an ice axe I have no issues.
Best piece of clothing I own
From long mountaineering trips to speedy sunrise missions, these things are my go to for everything. The shell is incredibly dextrous and comfortable by themselves and are so warm that I rarely even need the liners. And with that warmth they breathe so well which makes them perfect for long tours. It's only been cold enough for me to need the liners twice, and both times it was -20F, howling winds and blowing ice, but my fingers were the warmest part of my body all day long. Definitely the best addition to my mountaineering setup in a long time.
Amazing super warm gloves.
Amazing super warm gloves. I was in the market for warmer gloves. My OR pair with inserts wasn’t doing the job. I tried several models but none really works for high mountain New England winter‘s. Are you for snowboarding on the resort and in the back country. I also use them for snow showing. Very durable and sturdy. Great quality. They have some very meaty inserts that keep you warm. They look great with great quality materials. My only issue was that I wish they’ve come with a leash. Otherwise they’ve done their job with flying colors.
Good gloves, not all they are cracked up to be.
Positives: The boiled wool on the back of the hand is a stroke of genius, warm & thick and cozy. The thinner insulation around the fingers gives greater dexterity for handling ropes & tools. The gauntlet gives good wrist protection and makes them very easy to on/off. Negatives: DURABILITY! When they were brand new they were warm! But after 20 days of use the insulation packed out and weren't warm at all, no better than hardware store gloves. So I washed the liner and restored the loft. But after 3-4 washes the boiled wool was ruined and not insulating anymore. At about 120 days of use the leather is worn out and there are holes all over the fingers. This took me 3 seasons, but any person out every day would blow through these in one season.
